I backed up my ms28 with mtkflash on a via 6142 sucessfuly but after I patched in the firmware in windows and rebooted mtkflash no longer sees the via controller. Any ideas? When I first booted up it saw the via chipset flawlessly. I have tried different sata cables and that has not helped, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the sata card. I am also using the via patched mtkflash.
Also will note that the 360 drive is still working and playing original games.

I have the same problem. I had probs at first getting windows to recognize the VIA 6421 PCI card, but after switching slots a few times, "found new hardware" and I installed the latest drivers. BUT, after booting to dos to run mktflash, the SATA controller didn't show up. So I rebotted to windows, and now windows isn't showing the device anymore! Help anybody?

Well I got a new 6142 sata card and it worked fine. I did not use the alligator clips so maybe the old card got fried but I don't know for sure.
