when I choose the master option in mtkflash, the 360 starts blinking so I'm assuming it's working but it goes forever
i'm using a usb drive to load mtkflash
I have the tutorials but they say nothing about how long it should take
I have an nforce4 chipset and I used an mtkflash file from a rar where it had a folder for nforce4 so I assume it's the right one..
basically I'm just wondering if it's working or what.. all I see on the screen is a blinking cursor and it says
port 9f0, Master/Slave a0

Not working if all you're seeing is on the screen is a blinking cursor and it says

yeah, so basically.. now my question is what step do I try next..
I'm trying a different mtkflash now although the 2 files are the exact same size so I'm not too confident
any tips would be appreciated
and no i'm not in raid mode
i have only my 360 drive and the usb drive plugged in
is it possible that i'm using an improper boot file?
i don't think so.. from what I understand it's just a standard dos boot disk on a usb drive.. and since i can run the mtkflash that leads me to believe it's working up to the point where I try to read from the drive which is when the light on the 360 starts blinking
I don't think I've bricked the drive because I'm only reading from the firmware so that shouldn't do anything but who knows...
I am new to the 360 modding, but I've done plenty of original xbox ones and I realize enough to read up but it's really hard to find people with the same issue

what version TS-H943 is it?

What drive is it that you are trying to flash?....usually a good place to start.

ms25
i didn't realize the ms number mattered, i've seen it mentioned places but never saw that number in a tutorial so i didn't think it mattered, that's why i left it out

what command line are you using in mtkflash to dump the firmware?

How much of the tutorial have you actually bothered to read? If you really didn't think the version of drive mattered then I suggest you quit what you're doing immediately and go away and read for a few hours. I'm not mocking you I'm advising you because I honestly think you are going to end up with a dead 360 if you don't go and have a good proper read first.

i've tried mtkflash r /m backup.bin
mtkflash r backup.bin
i've also changed the names for the backups to orig.bin
-
try this mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
-
I must not be reading the same tutorial as you.. because nowhere in it does it mention that.. i'll look for another one

I'm using an Abit An8 32x board which I swear has an nforce4 chipset, but in my msinfo32 it lists 2 nforce ones and one sil 3132 SATALink Controller
the order is:
Silicon Image Sil 3132 SATALink Controller
NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Raid Controller
NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Raid Controller
VAXSCSI Controller
SCSI/RAID Host Controller
NVIDIA nForceĀ Raid Class Controller
what's the deal yo?
on the mobo website it says it's an nforce 4 chipset but it also gives me drivers for both so I don't know what the deal is..
anyway, I'm still having the issue where I choose the drive and it does nothing.. I'm going to bed
so I'll check tomorrow after I'm done with classes and stuff
thanks guys

hi Antinous-ODY, not too long ago, someone did mentioned about problems with his an8 32x sli mobo. even though it has nf4 sata chipset but no matter what he did, he could not get the flashing done right. so he bought a via pci sata card and afterthat, no issue. i m using abit kn8 ultra with nf4 sata chipset but no sli. no issue too..... maybe its the sli architecture that's having some issue.... that's what i am thinking.....

Hi i had the same problem too when using a nforce 4 gigabyte K8n9 motherboard. It just keeps blinking when i chose either one. The problem was solved when i switch to XBOXSAM 0.3. BTW i had put 2 mtkflash files from the edited MTK-NF4 into XBOXSAM0.3 to work. Hope it helps
-
ok the x360sam requires me to have the original firmware.. which is where I am stuck.. i can't get it
-
I think you should hex edit mtkflash specificly for your chipset.

-
ok since this is a bump.. i'll recap
I've tried hex editing for nforce4, I've tried unplugging all components
I've tried the Boot Maker
I've tried several different mtkflash commands
mtkflash r orig.bin
mtkflash r /m orig.bin
mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
The light on the drive blinks and it lists my drive, it is still just giving me the:
port 9f0, Master/Slave a0
then I hit esc and it says 00 should be 70 or something
the port changes depending on where I have the drive plugged in I believe
My board is the Abit A8n 32x SLI
My DVD-ROM is the TS H943 m25

have you definately tried using X360SAM0.5? those files combined with the xtreme boot maker mtkflash files and your xtreme firmware on a formatted usb should work. just type "samread 1234567 12345" and it should dump your firmware to the usb drive.
-
just make sure to unplug all of your other drives first.
-
seriously.. maybe i don't have the nforce4 chipset? no that's not true I do.. but I just wonder which one is controlling the sata and I can't just look at the north/southbridge because there is a heatsink on both

please?

I feel your pain. I'm using the USB method too and I'm stuck with my MS25 drive.
Ran the Xtreme Bootmaker and using the 42b.bin
Read through the tutorial by Textbook and followed it to the letter.
When I type in the command: samread 1234567 12345
It comes up with the following:
Drives Scanned
1. XTREME PRI MASTER
2. XTREME PRI SLAVE
I select 1 and then it says: Port e800, Master/Slave: a0
And it hangs there forever.
I'm using the Asus A8N-VM CSM that has the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 + nForce 430.
Any help is appreciated since it might help us both.
