Title: Is It Safe To Do Fall Update Yet?
Post by: Coconuts on November 04, 2006, 10:42:00 AM
I've done a fair bit of searching but haven't got a definite answer yet. I've a Smasung MS25 drive so will all be ok with it if I download the Fall update?

I f you run a hacked FW restore it to default first. The E71 is fixed by MS (what a fatal/stupid mistake anyway).
After updating, IF you get E66, X360SAM 0.5 can save you.

I have xtreme 3.3 firmware on it at the moment. I didn't do it myself so I can't put it back to the orignal, should I just wait a few more days or chance downloading the update? What do I need to change the firmware on the dvd drive?

fw 3.x on a MS25 should be ok since the 3.x is a fw based on the MS25... there are no guarantees, but i have read several posts with people having MS25s and fw3.x and being fine.

If someone else can agree with this I might finally take the risk and download the update, I miss playing Pro Evo online these last few days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

worked fine here... 3.3 installed ms25 updated fine.
had unmodded box... it updated fine. have modded 3.3 box...(not updated never on live) (transfer hard drive between them)
when hard drive was stuck from UNMODDED updated box on to MODDED box it wanted to update without being on xbox live which I did not know did that! but it went through perfectly fine as it should.
3.3 is based on ms25 .

It's up to you...do you want to play online...or have an E66 that might take a few days to fix. All the info that you might need to flash your drive is in the pinned topics at the top of this forum. If your xbox is more than 3-4 months old...you will probably be fine with 3.3....but you should still update to 4.2.

I had 3 boxes of MS25 running fine with 4.2 after the update. The decision is yours ...

Was your drive flashed before the update? I have a ms25 drive but i'm not sure if I should flash it before or after I update. I dont plan on playing online but I heard some of the new games will have the update.

Dammit....READ....if you use XBOXSAM 0.5 it doesn't matter anymore....the problem was with the detection of firmware version...nothing else....this is patched with the new XBOXSAM....so use it.
