Title: Usb Boot Failure
Post by: bastantey on October 17, 2006, 09:15:00 AM
I've been trying to flash my Ms28 drive,i used xtreme bootmaker to prepare the drive it says the drive is ready so i then i enter my bios and set my first boot device to:

USB RMB-FDD IN-WIN iAPP

And not try other devices then when my pc trys to boot i get:

Boot Failure
Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selectedboot device.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

There should also be another sub-option somewhere to change boot device priorities. Maybe worth finding &  double checking. Usually causes me probs when i try to reboot windows after flashing a Samsung.

Nice one slim,Thanks for your time.
Have you any idea what this sub option looks like? And where it could be located.I set the boot order in advanced bios options and i dont see any usb options there.
I was thinking about using a NTFS dos boot cd have you any experience  usng ths method?
And thanks for your time again.

I need to give this a bump.

I've been trying to use the NTFS boot cd and i cant dump the firmware.I've got a nec 3550 on the ide on my 6241 pci card and my ts-h943a on the master sata port.I HAVE MY PIONEER 111d on my mother boad to boot the cd.
I have used xtreme boot maker and then moved all the files to the root of my harddrive and copied the bats from xbox sam 0.4 onto the root so i can use samreadb.

When i boot the cd and type samreadb i get the following options

1:IDE SEC MASTER
2:XTREME PRI MASTER
3:XTREME SEC DRIVE

I use the 10 second trick after i pick option 2 ,when i turn my 360 it starts to read then stops and gives me an error.sometimes it gets to 49% then starts again does this a few times and then gives me an error.

I get :Invalid opcode at 1db0 01eb 0002 035a 00d0 00d0 0000 0008 00d0 0000 17d8 23fb

And i dont get the firmware.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. Here is what you do.... First make a bootable drive with the firmware and everything in it using the Xtreme bootmaker or iPrep. After making that, you copy/drag those files from that usb drive and put it onto your desktop as a backup. After that, You have to download The HP USB Disk Format and then get the Windows 98 boot files(google it) and use the HP USB Disk Format to format the Windows 98 boot files into it. after that you drag the firmware and the other files(from the desktop) you made from the xtreme boot maker into that usb drive and thats it.
