Do you have an MTK-based PC cd/dvd drive connected to the mobo? And just to confirm, you're doing the bad flash recovery method, right? Turn on the 360 at DOS, run mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin and it should bring up a port menu. (remember the /sata switch in the command) When it brings up the port menu, turn off your 360, select your SATA port, then wait 10-14 seconds and turn on your 360. It should start reading the firmware automatically.

Hmm. Yeah, I'm trying to do the bad flash workaround. I just have an LG GSA-4082B dvd burner hooked up as slave on IDE0. I also have an NEC ND-3550A dvd burner, but its not hooked up at the moment. Is there a list of all MTK dvd drives somewhere? I'm pretty sure its not detecting my SATA pci card because as soon as i type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin it pops up with port: #### device: b0 (dont remember exactly how its displayed). If i switch my dvd drive to master, it says port: #### device: a0. Sooo, I'm pretty sure its just defaulting to that dvd drive. If I unplug it altogether and run mtkflash, it just says no drives detected.
I think the mtkflash i have is flakey or something. I was able to get it to show VIA6421L Master as choice Number 2 once, but only once. I didnt do anything different that time either. It shouldnt be totally random like that. I selected it, but I'm pretty sure I didnt have the timing down on the xbox360 right. Anyway, I can't get it to display the VIA6421 as a choice anymore. Pretty frustrating. Maybe my hexedits aren't good enough?
thanks for the reply
