Xbox360 SS Merger v1.7
Posted by XanTium | September 6 00:07 EST

HellDoc informed us he released a new version of Xbox360 SS Merger(info) - a GUI tool that allows you to easily insert the Security Sectors (SS) on Xbox360 and Xbox1 images. This new version comes with support to create stealth media Xtreme v3.0+ images (insert PFI/DMI), create NME-360 compatible images and more:

Here the long awaited XBOX SS Merger 1.7
Sorry for the delay, I moved, screen blew up, hd screwed up... But finally.

The NME-360 features have been tested by the NME Team.
SS Convertion for NME has been coded from ground... this was some pretty hard stuff.

I didn't try the Xtreme 3.x stuff too, as I have a Hitachi drive.

I changed the way ISO type autodetection worked. It now work on the filesize. I burned lots of backup made in different way and they were all successfully detected.

If you like the software, don't forget to donate at helldoc AT gmail d0t com.
You can also send me feedbacks, comments, suggestions, bug report but please don't tell me that you downloaded a scene release and you can't get it to work, I won't answer.

rest of readme/nfo:
QUOTE

If you used 1.6 before, everything should be pretty straightfoward,
for the others here's some quick info :
1 - Make sure you have .Net Framework 2 installed.
2 - Browse for the iso.
3 - If there's already a online entry for this iso, the Game Name combo box will fill up. If nothing appear it means that no one submitted information for this iso.
5 - If you select a game in the combo box, all settings should already be fine, else, make the settings as it should be.
6 - Select the SS file.
7 - If you selected an game name in the combo box and the md5 checkboxes are red it mean that you are not using the recommended SS. Green mean that you selected the right SS.
8 - Hit merge.
9 - Burn the .dvd with CloneCD
10 - If the iso you just made is working and was not found in the database, hit Add to database. Enter the game name, video region and geographical location. It will allow the users to use your settings.
11 - Donate via paypal to helldoc AT gmail D0t com as i'm paying for the database hosting and the bandwith and still do not own a 360...

Iso splitter instruction :
This should be pretty straigtfoward,
1 - select your iso file (Must be a complete iso with video partition).
2 - hit xbox 360 or xbox depending on your iso.
3 - select what you want to extract (Extraction the game partion will create a xtreme type of iso)
4 - Hit split and wait.

Add comments / Report as Working or non working :
1 - Select the iso
2 - Click yes to calculate the iso md5 and check in the database for this md5.
3 - You can read the comments in the box to the right.
4 - Click comment to add a comment.
5 - Ensure that the game name in the new dialog is the good one.
6 - Enter you comment.
7 - Enter your name (optional).

ok i have a question, well u know how there are some images made that after ss patch with 1.6 are 7.26gb in size as opposed to the 7.05 images we make now. well should we worry about these sizes? i split one with 1.7 now and i cant use a blueprint patch i found floating around on the game.iso, it errors out on me and if i load this game.iso into ss merger to add the ss, stealth files, and good vid partition it tells me its too small to be one and to big to be the other rip type. But it still gets detected. I guess im asking if we should worry about this larger game size, and or is it gonna make these games less stealthy?

I have made a backup of my Pro Evo 5 (xbox1) ss included, but not stealth.
Can I use this tool to make my backup stealth or do I need to rip the game again form the original and do it all over again??

you really dont need SS merger if you are making stealth backups, use the xtreme builder and put your DMI, PFI, SS, Video.iso and game.iso in the same directory and your backups will be 7.05gb

since i dont do stealth backups in the first place,  i think i will stick to v1.6, this one has all these options prechecked, and im not familiar with any of it. The otherone is much much more simple.  pop.gif

For all of those out there, anyone that has a NME-360 modchip and has successfully used this software (v1.7), I would be very interested to know the steps you followed in doing so.  I am very excited about this software, but a bit hazy on how exactly to use it (with a ToshibaSamsung NME-360).  Nevertheless, good work and congratulations HellDoc!

Will adding the NME SS to an iso compromise the media stealth routines in Xtreme firmware? In other words, will adding the NME SS to the end of the ISO be detectable beyond the current media stealth protections?

The backups won't be read as stealth backups unless you are using an Xtreme FW with stealth backup ability. As far as I understand NME can't do stealth yet. It would probably play a stealth, but a if checked the disc would appear as a backup, not as an original.

Reason I say that, c4e states in his "explanation of stealth backups" that if you put a stealth backup in an Xtreme 1.0 flashed 360 it will play, but it will not appear as an original.

That's an interesting statement, I must have missed that.  Well now I'm confused, because others were saying that Stealth backups won't work in a Hitachi (yet).  According to that statement by C4E, they should still work even if the Hitachi doesn't "support" stealth media yet ?  My friend wanted me to backup his Madden for him, and I made them non-stealth backups because he has a Hitachi and I heard stealth doesn't work with Hitachi yet.  So who has tried a stealth in a Hitachi?

Is the add video partition still needed with imgBurn2.0?

I've got a stealth backup of my Madden 07 and it runs fine in my hitachi - I used GaryOpas to flash, then used the "make stealth" utility to stealth my firmware though - don't know if this makes a difference, but I haven't had a problem with stealth backups biggrin.gif

Maybe someone misunderstood my question...

All xtreme style backups add the SS at the last sector of video partition. To make an iso stealth you add the DMI and PFI on the two sectors preceding the SS. So in other words, the last 3 sectors of video partition contain DMI, PFI and SS. Having the DMI and PFI does nothing to affect the operation of the game since this is video partition. The stealth firmware (as far as I understand) also prevents reading out of these DMI PFI and SS sectors directly in the video partition (they normally do not live there so MS would have possibly been able to request those sectors). Using a non-stealth firmware won't matter as long as the SS is in its correct sector (it just ignores the DMI and PFI) - so go ahead and make all your ISOs stealth for hopes that it will be supported on Hitachi soon.

The NME360 looks for the SS in a completely different location (go read on their site for the reason... briefly has to do with it is easier to modify with less wires if address was similar to original). This spot happens to be at the end of layer2, which is the end of the ISO (that is why it only takes couple seconds to add it). Their utility (and SS Merger 1.7) adds existing SS there without affecting/modifying/deleting any of the xtreme SS. I presume that this sector doesn't coincidentally line-up with their desired offset so they most likely pad a few sectors in-between the end of the iso and their SS.

So now because the checkbox to make NME is always checked by default in SS 1.7, it should always be adding this SS to the end so it is more "universal" - both Xtreme firmware and NME-360 can use it. This will not affect playback using OPA or Xtreme but I ask... by putting this SS there, will MS able to detect it now? Will c4e's stealth firmware block this last sector from being checked or will adding this break the current stealth firmwares?
