Title: Samsung 0800 Question
Post by: mattyv on August 12, 2006, 06:00:00 AM
O.K. I know there is no difference between having a Samsung drive flashed w/ the Xtreme 1.0, 0800 fw and having it flash w/ 2.0 and using the 0800 DVD. What I was wondering is, I have an extra Sammy that stays out of my 360 to backup my games. To make use of the "stealth" ability, Do I have to reflash my extra drive w/ the 3.0 and use the activate 0800 DVD? Is there a way to keep a Sammy drive in 0800 mode permanately w/ 3.0, to backup games??

Activate.iso is the new version of 0800.iso to make the 0800 DVD.

so can you use the old xtreme0800.bin from Xtreme v1.0 to extract SS, DMI, PFI and game data so you can create a Xtreme v3.0 stealth mode game backup? If it will work, thats great...but if not i think having a Xtreme v3.0 0800.bin file would be a nice addition to the FW package. This would also allow people waiting for their new DL burners to arrive, the ability to begin making backups. It sucks to to flash your dvd and then you cant do anything till your DL burner and media arrive, like me sad.gif

You can just flash your extra drive with 0800.bin from the first Xtreme firmware released. Just use mtkflash.
I have to do this every time I make a backup because for some reason I cannot get windows to detect my drive using the activate.iso burned to a dl disc. For a temp solution I have to flash my drive to 0800 then  use a Sata to USB adapter and my drive pops up in windows and makes backups fine. smile.gif

Hi Harry

I have the same issue - activate.iso doesn't work for me.  But, can you extract the pfi and dmi info using the 0800 firmware from Xtreme2.0?
