Hi, this is my first post but I've been reading the forums for quite a while now. Im pretty positive I could not find the answer. I know you guys are all up tight about double posts, i understand, i mod a couple boards.
anywhoo..
(IMG:http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g151/MaximusX15/pic1.jpg)
plus what you cant see i also got a: Error @ 1705984 : Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
whats wrong here? Is my dvd not large enough? This was my second attempt and same problem. I was trying to make a dump of PGR3.
I put in the dvd load the program.
click the view button (or whatever it is) and the two rows of numbers show up
then click find magic number
then stop it, hotswap with pgr3
spin it
find magic number
dump
error
any ideas? i know im doing something wrong.thanks guys

You need to stop the drive first.
Then hot swap you DVD movie with your Game( when i mean hot swap the game open the tray with the emergency hole with a paper clip. DONT push the button on the drive)
Then you close the tray.
Then you try to find the magic number
Then you dump it

well i have my dvd drive opened up..i put in the dvd..let it read it..stop it take out the dvd from the top..switch it with a game..then run and find magic number..then dump and i still get error. will this way still work or should i go searchign for the emergency button?

Searching for the emergency button? You won't have to search far, it's the only hole in the front of the drive! I'm getting the impression you aren't using the 'emergency button' which is a must for a successful hot-swap.
Off topic a bit, but have you tried the isobuster method?

have a look at the tutorial for a fix...you need to edit your layout from wxRippper.

What the hell are you talking about? using the emergency button is a must for a successful hotswap? first of all, it's not a button, second of all, he told you he had his drive taken apart and was swapping from the top, which is perfectly fine, and preffered IMO.
your problem is the layout file. do this:
Insert your dvd movie in your drive.
Open up wxripper
click on hotswap and then click on find magic number
click on file and then click on save layout file (name it whatever you want)
open up the file you just saved in notepad.
It should look similar to this:
C19408
D1072
C109344
C1783936
J282400
C1783936
J0
Change the first 3 lines so they all start with "D"
It should look similar to this:
D19408
D1072
D109344
C1783936
J282400
C1783936
J0
Save the file
go back to wxripper
click on file and then click on open layout file
swap movie for game disc
click on hotswap then click on start dump
That's it!
Also, from this point on, you don't need to swap discs. just open up wxripper and open your ammended layout file then click on hotswap and then click on start dump.
