Attach the SATA cable to your PC AFTER the dos prompt is available.

my settings are at default and i try to attach the cord afterwards and i get nothing but no drive detected once i get into the mtkflash in dos and i type mtkflashvia r /m /sata orig.bin    I get no drive detected as i said b4 any help is appreciated

im almost sure that the mtkflash executable and the .typ file have to have the same prefix.  for instance, i downloaded mtkflashvia.exe and mtkflash.typ and renamed via to mtkflash.exe and following the regular instructions it worked after that.  try renaming the mtkflashvia.exe.

Okay i dont remember getting a mtkflash.typ file... uhm lemme boot back into windows on my other pc and see what is going on here lol still any info is much appreciated and thanks for the quick replys

You also need an MTKFlash that is specific to your Sata Pci card.

yes thats the one i need please send it, i need the 6421l and i have the sy-via-150r card from creative i/o  im pretty sure i need that one thanks.

sent, let me know if it works for you now, remember to follow the instructions as normal, also do you have a ms25 or 28 if so you need to follow firmware specific guides.

if it works dont worry about it.  obviously you have a ms25 which is the most common firmware as of now, but some boxs are comn with ms28 and they dont respond so well to mtkflash and you have to use the two wire trick or bad flash recovery method, but all of this is not important if it has detected your card.

to write back to the rom, mtkflash w /m /sata (whatever u named the modified firm).bin  
did u hex edit, the original from 4000 to 4400.  and copy your key and all.  make sure ur using a guide form xboxscene.

Just wanted to say thanks to docstrange for being a helper, we always need more of these kinds of members.

Torkeh, don't let hex-editing the drive key scare you.  Click on the link in my guide, it's real easy and takes less than a minute, has a video too.  It's damn near just as easy as using KDX, but it actually works.

I sent the link to Xantium to put in the tutorials/reference post.  I don't think he put it in there, but it's in my signature and I'm always checking this forum anyways.  The hexediting is easy as pie.  Hexediting and 2-wire method, hell-even the flashing, scares all the noobs away.  I just said "Wow, I need to show them how easy this is."

You have to burn the enable0800 / activate0800 to DVD+R DL , and also make sure it is bitset to DVD-ROM correctly.

use xtreme bootmaker it creates a custom mtkflash specifically for your card so no need to hex edit run it in windows and it will create a bootdisk too it fixes 99% of mtkflash problems
