Title: Nme V1.2 - Safe For Xbox Live
Post by: Evil Ryu on November 08, 2007, 11:07:00 AM
Just wondering if anyone can confirm this? Is it still possible to connect to Xbox Live with the NME v1.2 installed and access stuff like the arcade and such?

Thanks

make sure you boot an original to shut mod off before going on live

Thanks for the reply letsmod. That's all that is needed to disable the chip? Have you personally been on Xbox Live with the NME?

Dude, it's very simple........DO NOT GO ON LIVE WITH YOUR A BACKUP (THE CHIP IS ON)
if you do this...you WILL be banned in time....I dont see all the debate here.....
If you want to go online... reboot the 360 without a game or an original...then do whatever you want online.....go to the arcade download your heart out, play multiplayer....whatever you want......

I have been running with an NME 1.2 for a very long time now.....when I put a back up in my console i disconect the network cable.....play all i want.... when im done, I reboot, put an original in, plug the network cable back in, and everything is fine (the chip is off now)

But let me stress this again..... I have NEVER gone online with my chip ON for any reason.........not even once......and Ive been fine......

when you reboot and put an original disc in the console the chip is OFF........ If you follow this advice you will be fine!!!!  I'm not going to say you will NEVER GET BANNED (who knows what MS will do in the future) but up until this point you will be fine....  All these crazy people that keep saying they got banned, they were playing online with a backup......they talk about stealth this and stealth that....I never bought into that.....the people that were designing this stealth stuff are NOT AS SMART AS MS!!!!!!!!!!!! I never trusted it.......therefore, my console is fine, and I have eluded the BAN HAMMER.......   Hope this helped.....follow my advice and dont worry.....have fun!!!!!!!     biggrin.gif

Dude... that's what I was trying to confirm... that it's still okay to go online - not play backups online. But thanks for the reply - as it answered my questions perfectly.

Well  SIR , if you were half as smart as your mouth then you would know what I was referring to. That is: the concern that many here in the community have about microsoft possibly slipping something into the 360 via a dashboard update in the future to detect the activation of a modchip offline, and then transmit this information to microsoft when you sign into live. Maybe you should keep your smart comments to yourself unless you know what the hell you are talking about.....It iritates me to no end that people like you have to try and criticize like that when people are trying to help someone........Back to your hole son!!!         (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)

Didn't you hook up the ethernet disable that disables the ethernet port when you boot a backup?

It comes down to a simple preference.  How much is Live worth to you?  $50.00?  or $250-$400.  I have had several 360's over the course of it's life span.  ALL have been modded with various techniques...The Chip...flashed. etc.  my most recent one that I bought off of a buddy for $25.00 with RROD and no HD I sent back for repair and had it modded with 1.3.  But I still have my launch box for some odd reason...Weird how some of them die and some dont...anyway...Is it safe to play online with Backups..Perhaps...Perhaps not, but if you really care, then buy another box and play your originals on that.  That is where the real questions lies.  Who cares if you THINK it's wrong to play backups or boot your chip.  If you get banned and Live is a necessity then it will cost ya some dough.  I have no fantasies that I will never be banned and I have played just about every backup that I have and originals all on different boxes over the course.  Through all of the banwaves and still nothing.  But it wont hurt my feelings at all as I have my latest one that dies and got back from MS sitting upstairs just playing dvd's.  The people who really care are the pirates that are downloading the scene release and not buying games.  Then if they want to play LIve, then it costs them a 360 AND the games they want.  So all that being said, who really knows what they are detecting.  We are only on borrowed time.  :-)
