I'm new at this but I was thinking of getting a modchip installed on my xbox 360 so that i can play imported and back up games. So I was wondering if i installed the Xeno Top gear onto my xbox 360, will it allow me to play back ups and imported games. Also can some explain to me the difference between the Xeno top Gear and a modchip. Also can you explain to me what exactly does FLASHING and FIRMWARE mean in turns of the xbox 360?

Ok the Xeno Top Gear (I have one installed in my machine and it works great) is only to allow you to flash your dvd drive without having to take your unit apart (you will need to take it apart tho to install it the first time) and also allows you to hook up your hard drive to your pc. It will not allow you to play backups or imports by itself. A modchip will allow you to play backups, not sure about imports tho, but are harder to install the the Top Gear so if you are no good at soldering or don't have the correct tools for the job, get someone else to do it. As for Flashing the firmware on your dvd drive, just do some searching and check the pinned areas of this forum and you will find the answers you need.

If all you want to do is play backups... then get a blaster 360, and flash it w/the correct hacked FW.
I recommend the blaster 360 because it uses an external power source as opposed to having the xbox 360 on while the dvd drive isn't hooked up via sata. It just keep it all seperate. And if you need the hdd hooked up, which you don't seem you do, but just get an xecuter connectivity kit v2.0.
And you can't play imported games as such, NTSC games are not playable on PAL systems and vice versa. Some games are region-free and will work, so don't be surprised if one DOES work, just luck of the draw I guess.

Xbox 360 with Xtreme 5.3!!! MS 28 drive!!!
I just bought Xeno top gear LED from Divineo.com
I installed it right way as video ...was easy. But at first my computer used to freeze at start up and in the regular processes.
Only I can use the the hard drive by this product. I did backup my hdd by Xeno top gear LED. But no luck on DVD.
I had Fw updated before (5.3)and backed up games by manual connection.
IS something wrong with this product?
Let me know what can I do..please.
