Title: Mods And Xbox Live
Post by: tylord on May 06, 2007, 11:54:00 AM
I've been thinking about either doing some flashing or getting the xeno chip, but i'm worried about getting banned from xbox live.

Anyone know what the chances are of getting banned? Has there been a large occurance as of late?

I don't think they implemented banning yet. From the news on the front page MS might not ban. They'll just stop it by TRYING to stop backups from loading.

I personally don't go online with backups at all. From what I've seen there are "Stealth Patches" for games that you can go online with. These work with flashed drives, I don't know if they work for modded drives.

If I were you I would wait until after the Spring Dash update before making an decision.

in the other side , if they had something good to make our backups not boot , they wouldnt wait with the release till some "spring" update , they would do it straith away , its ms we are on about , and i have a prob with my r6v backup , need like 20 times to open/close drive till it finaly boots  biggrin.gif other games boot just fine  flamethrower.gif

btw 1st day nme in use here , works like a charm

You wouldn't get banned anyway.  The Xeno chip can't be detected (as far as Team Xeno claims) because it doesnt actually modify the DVD firmware, it just basically "adds" to it.

And so far it sounds like MS will just make the backups not boot with something they are calling a "Disk Jitter Check."

Thanks for the help. Now that there's all these reports of people getting banned (in the high numbers it seems) is there any status change as to whether or not Xeno modchips will get banned?

Nobody knows for sure. Lots of theories but not much facts.
Only time will tell.
I read that some people with NME chips have been banned.
Haven't read about anyone with a Xeno getting banned yet...
I've read so much junk now I don't know what or who to believe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

For what it's worth (not much)
I went on live tonight to see if I was banned - and so far so good.
I'm going to download every demo I can fit on the drive, in case tomorrow is a different story.

Try not advising people to break XBL TOS
Also not a technical post.
