Title: Death To All Modchips!

QUOTE
The 78 drives use "rolling code" base, so the patch locations are different on the drive.

That is the key parts to be patch vary from drive to drive, not always the same location.

This will STOP on-the-fly patching chips completely, they WILL NEVER work on the new 78 drive.

As for software-side flashing it is possible just new more time in testing the code, plus a new
string-searching patching needs to be designed over the normal-fixed-address patch currently
used on the older drives, since each drive could have code up or down by a few bytes or more.

Still don't personaly have a drive myself, so work is moving along slowly.

Most of the changes in the new v78 drive by MS/Hitachi is aimed towards the market of this
patching modchips like NME, etc. I guess they fell companies marketing modchips for the x360
is a bigger problem than users flashing their drives.

Yea, you think they would aim at stopping drive flashers, cuz it seems that you would think more people would be doing the modchip thing, but I think peeps think they are a ripoff.  You would think the modchip would be harder to install, so they are prob avoided because of the price and soldering skill required.  Then MS has their own solution to drive flashers, its pure stupidity of people flashing, or should I say attempting to flash them and end up bricking their drives.  MS should just start selling replacement drives on ebay and let that make up for what they lose.

well i got a hitachi 78k

im just waiting.....i could take the epoxy off and lift the chip no problem but i got another hitachi 47dj

my old xbox got fried when i tried the heatgun trick ... a little to much heat

so my new xbox is sitting there waiting

lol

and i think if the 78k's got rolling code meaining its stored in different location's u could theoretically make a chip that will scan through a know range of bytes and look for the key once it finds he key it could store it on the chip itself

just a thaught
