Nice tip.

Quick question - have you found a way to postivitely determine if the NME is soldered and installed properly?  I have one installed, but cannot get any backups to boot.  I have tried 2 different types of media (included Verbatim 8x, which is supposed to be good and Memorex, which isn't supposed to be good) and cannot get it to work.  All I ever get is "unrecognized disc".

Any suggestions would be great.

Wait, are you getting the insert this disc into an xbox360 to play?  Thats whats happening to me.  Can someone help?

I think i might try ripping the game except with iso buster this time as opposed to the backup creator.

I only get the "Insert disc into Xbox 360 to play" message when I burn the ISO using the wrong book type setting.  For the NME, setting the book type to "DVD+R DL" is the preferred method.

Regardless, I discovered that I had incorrectly soldered one of the connections.  Once I fixed the solder point, it worked flawlessly on my correctly burnt discs, but only with Verbatim media (the Memorex still doesn't work).

Two questions
1. How would I change the booktype?  I have a pioneer DVR-K16 burner.  When I use CloneCD, there is only DVD present on the last step before burning.

2.  Did you get the insert into Xbox error because of a bad solder?

Download IMGBurn (http://www.imgburn.com), install and execute.
At first we have to enter the layerbreak information manually. This has to be done only once because IMGBurn
will save this setting and use it for ever untill you change it again:
TOOLS - SETTINGS - WRITE - Options (top right) - mark "User specified" - enter thevalue "1913760" into
the field below. Confirm with "OK".
Back to the mainscreen of IMGburn there is a small icon in the lower right corner which looks like a book.
Click this icon with your left mousebutton and we will be able to change the booktype manually.
A new window opens which lists several DVD writers. Choose your dvd writer and enter the following settings:
"Change for:" "Drive (For DVD+R DL Media)" below "New Setting:" "DVD+R DL"
click "Change" with your left mousebutton and confirm the message "SUCCESS" by clicking "OK".
Hit the "OK" button to get back to the mainscreen where you can select the iso by clicking the small folder
icon besides "please select a file...".
Choose your "game.iso" file.
Preferably change the writing speed to the speed of your media. Never write faster than your media can handle
it because you could make it a coaster. Disable "Test-Mode" and "Verifiy"
Finally insert your DVD+R DL media and press the big button to start burning.

That is, more than likely, your problem.

2.  I think you get the "insert into Xbox" error because of the booktype being set incorrectly.  I wasn't getting that - I was getting the "unrecognized disc" error because my chip wasn't installed properly.  Now that I have corrected the solder problems, I am able to boot backups without a problem.

good, means that my install is OK.  
IMGBURN doesnt support my buerner.  I have v1.1 chip. Apperantly no need to change booktype when using this one.  I have a Pioneer K16 and I can't seem to update the firmware.  On the phone with HP right now.  

Another quick question.  Shouldn't the SS be the same EVERYTIME I extract it?  I extracted it several times using the dvdinfo pro method, and the xbox image creator, and EACH one differed by one or two characters.  Is this normal?  The game I'm backing up is Saint's Row BTW.

As long as you have the v1.1 chip, you should be OK (according to the Team Underdog website).

Yes, I believe so (but I have never bothered to check)

If you have the v1.1 installed, did you solder the option to change the color of the LEDs on the front of the 360 when the chip is active?

Just curious.

First post, so pity me.

I purchased an NME360 LE for my samsung drive and followed the feeble soldering instructions.  Mind you, the via's that they have you solder to are tiny and easily damaged.

I have made backups using the latest samsung 0.8 firmware using the latest backup tool from team underdog's site.  I extracted the SS with the backup tool and then used the associatr tool.  No metion is made for whether to "Correct the header" option, so I left it unchecked.  I burned using imgburn on my NEC ND-3550A.  Img burn has two options for the book type on NEC drives Normal and DVD-ROM   I tried both and get the same results.  When I put the disk back in my NEC burner, imgburn says the book-type os DVD+R DL.  The disks give me the dreaded "Insert this disk into an XBOX 360 blah blah..."  I am using Verbatim 8x disks.

Does anyone know how to verify using a voltmeter or something if the NME is functioning properly?  Perhaps I have a bad solder point somewhere?

Did you also by your chip from foundmy?  I think he might have gotten a bad batch.  I'm working with them to resolve my current issue.  I suggest you do the same.

I got mine from Divineo.  No help there unless they're all bad.  The 1.1 came out as my LE was in transit and the price on an LE went down while I waited on Canadian registered post.  Maybe it's time to just flash...

More details I forgot.  My NEC3550A has been flashed to the 1.Y bitsettable firmware.  What firmware is being used in that drive by anyone who has made a successful backup?
