Title: The Globe 360 Mod Chip Ships In 24 Hrs
Post by: daghostmon on July 31, 2006, 07:32:00 PM
I'm just relaying the info. I just ordered mine at Divineo and it says it will ship in 24 hrs. User doesn't need to extract his drive-key or need special sata flashing chips and all that crap its just plug and play. well after alot of soldering of coarse. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

ok, we will be carrying maybe a limited stock of the Globe360 as well, but the problem as we hear it, is that you can't just solder it in and use it, you need to flash it first. but how does a customer flash it? no one has told us yet.

i soldered one in last night into a hitachi,
1st off the ps2's are 1000x easier, if you dont have the right tools or are inexperienced dont try it, at least the hitachi,
anyways,
im kinda thinkin it may have to be flashed, i installed it , checked all points with a multimeter, al tested fine,
now when i turn on the xbox with the power button it turns on, chip turns on as well, from the led, but the dvd wont eject,
when i power on with the eject button, no mod, no led, it ejects. (havent tested any games yet but will later)
any ideas? or do u think it may be because the chip needs to be flashed?
Thx

Well if it's just using a sst chip for the firmware storage, I imagine you pop the sst chip out of an alladin modchip for the XBox 1, and use an xbox or an alladin programmer to flash it, it might not be that hard.
Now, soldering the chip in, forget it. lol.

I still haven't gotten mine yet but it says it already has unsigned firmware flashed, just plug and play it says. Can anyone confirm this.
The Universal X360 DVD-Drive Firmware Upgrader

Electronic Switch ON/OFF : enable or disabile the chip when turn-on your console by power button, you can check the state of chip by a led-indicator . Easy Reprogrammable Flash eprom: the on-board flash eprom is mounted on a socket connector for an easy and clean remove in order to fast reprogramming it. COMPATIBILE whit ALL DVD-drive on the market (LG e SAMSUNG). High reliability through ACTEL cpld technology.

I just finished the soldering session on my Globe360. Now, for everyone in here asking if the flash on the modchip is empty or not: it HAS a firmware on it.

And what is your verdict on the install? And..... does it work great?

Hey guys. I installed a Globe-360 today on my Samsung drive. Im a prof. ps2 chip installer and I would compare the install to the older v1-v3 PS2s. Took me about 1.5-2 hours to install, mainly because I had to burn away so much of the epoxy that holds the SST chip down just to get to some of the points. I would say the install is more tedious than difficult but definitely not for the beginner.
Once installed though I was very impressed, and yes the chip is already flashed with a firmware. I had installed an NME chip previously and attempted several times to burn a working NME patched backup with no luck. The Globe-360 however booted every backup that I had burned. Booted FujiFilm and Ritek media burned w/ NEC burner.

Here's web site with some high def pics. I'm going to say it was a difficult install with way to many wires. I just put it in tonight but I don't have a backup to test it yet. And yes you can play live. If your using original game the chip is off and undetectable.

I also installed the Globe360 in my Hitachi drive but when i turn on the chip i will get the Error 64 but when the chip is disabled the original games are working. i think i have to flash the SST chip with the newest firmware, but how can i flash it?
i have the programmer SEEIT EPR-03 which should write the SST39ST040 Chip but i always get an error message.
does somebody has any ideas?

Oh dear
This looks like quite a complex install. I am sure we will quickly see iut down to a 4 or 5 wire mod but you it makes you wonders just how long before someone brings out a solderless mod chip
I am betting February 2007

Make sure that you have soldered the hitachi strap on the modchip pcb.

heh, I read at maxconsole that you can program the globe 360 SST chip with a spider USB programmer.
