Title: Nme-360 Questions And Answers Here
Post by: katjausaf on July 29, 2006, 05:54:00 PM
Follow This: (THIS INSTRUCTION ARE FROM A FRIEND OF MINE THAT GOT IT WORKING)

we unpack the NME-360 kit into a directory eg: c:\nme360\

we rip the game (we will call it IMAGE.000 and save it (remember where)
we get the proper SS.BIN for that game (remember where it is)

we use SS MERGER v1.6 and we insert the SS.BIN into the IMAGE.000, this
makes it compatible with the xtreme FW hacks.

so now we have IMAGE.000 Patched for xtreme hacks and we still have our
proper SS.BIN

next we move/copy the IMAGE.000 and SS.BIN into the C:\nme360\ directory

and we just run convert.bat

then we will have a GAME.ISO made after convert.bat is done.
and it should be 7.705.657.344 bytes.

my friend uses cloneCD and tells clonecd to use GAME.DVD file to burn.
I use IMGBURN and do the exact settings from the NME-360 instructions:
Imgburn, make sure that the layer breakpoint is set to 1913760)
and i set it to that select the game and burn,  come back 40 mins later and
its done.
burn at 2.4x.

also some games are not ripped with the video partition, and IMGBURN doesn't
like that, it give an error after you tell it to open the GAME.ISO.  if this
is the case, then use this program in the .zip attached. IMGBPATCH.ZIP  put
this in your C:\NME360\ directory too.

usage is IMGBPATCH.EXE <file>  eg:  IMGBPATCH.EXE GAME.ISO
you will have to do this dos prompt window but some people say if you DRAG
and DROP the GAME.ISO file onto (over) the the IMGBPATCH.EXE file, it will
highlight it let go of the file and it will execute as well.

it just corrects some bytes so IMGBURN will burn it now.  I have had to do
that with a couple of titles i downloaded, but they work.
--------
as far as the proper SS.BIN best to make sure where you get them, if you
ripped them with teh samsung then you are good to go. hitachi has problems.
but i had SAINTSROW DEMO come up with a different number than what was in SS
MERGER database, and i just used what i had and it worked.  so if your know
your SS.BIN is good then you shouldn't worry.
---------
he uses verbatim DVD+R DL, i use imation DVD+R DL, i believe its really
RICOH01 media, i will check in the morning for the exactly signature of the
media when i put it in).

4. GO TO THAT LAYOUT OPEN IT WITH NOTEPAD (IF YOU DONT NOW HOW, DAM YOU DONT NEED TO BE DOING THIS THEN)

5. THE FIRST 3 LINES YOU SEE THERE, CHANGE THE FIRST LETTER FROM "C" TO "D"

6. SAVE THE LAYOUT

7. OPEN THE LAYOUT WITH WXRIPPER (IN FILE MENU)

8. GET THE MAGIC NUMBER AGAIN (YOU STILL HAVE THE MOVIE IN THE DRIVE)

9. STOP SPIN DRIVE

10. "HOT SWAP" (YOU BETTER NOW WHAT THIS IS)

11. START SPIN

Your title is now changed. Unless I missed something startling you don't decide on what new topics are created or what goes where.
Also if you want to make a topic entitled questions and answers don't start  moaning when people ask obvious stuff. they are bound to when you invite it with your title.

Title: Nme-360 Questions And Answers Here
Post by: ImsPro on July 30, 2006, 12:21:00 PM
First of all..thanks to katjausaf, myfound and nha for working to document a working backup procedure for folks with nme mods.

Here's what I have found through the 15 coasters I've managed to burn so far.

First off..my hardware mix
360 with hitachi drive (type 47) with NME 11 wire mod installed.

The burners (all with latest firmware):
HP DVD 640C burner - booktype DVD+R DL with IMGBURN, DVD-ROM with CDCLONE
Emprex DVDRW 16x burner - booktype DVD+R DL with CDCLONE or IMGBURN
Pioneer 111D - Not good at all..booktype is forced to DVD-ROM, but I've not had any luck with this drive.

The media:
Only Verbatium 2.4x DL disk.

The games:
Personal backups of Table Tennis, Prey, Rumble Roses XX, Blazing Angels..never got to DOA4 smile.gif

I can get disk that fall into 3 catagories  - All original disk work fine btw.

1. Disk that boot up and show the "unreadable media" error.  I believe most folks also refer to this as the "dirty disc" error.  The drive appears to read the disk and try to spin up to speed, after several seconds of the 360 drive clicking and trying to read the backup it stops and displays this message.  I've tried adjusting the laser resistance from 4.0K ohms all the way down to 2.6k ohms and have not been able to improve.

2. Disk that boot up and display the "to play this disc please insert it into an Xbox360.  I notice these disk never really spin up really fast.  I've read that this error means that you have not applied the SS correctly but that it's possible your NME mod is installed correctly.

3. Disk that produce an "open tray" error.  These disk never appear to do anything..I've tried the HDD soft reset on these and nothing.

I do know how to specifically make all 3 flavors.  Here's a summary:

To make a disk that falls into catagory 1 you follow the wxripper procedure (no edits to the layout), use SSmerge to verify your SS.bin is valid and use NME convert.bat to build the final game.iso file.  When you burn (either imgburn or cdclone) you set the booktype to DVD-ROM (not DVD-R DL).

To make disk that fall into catagory 2 you follow the wxripper procedure (no edits to the layout), use SSmerge to verify your SS.bin is valid and use NME convert.bat to build the final game.iso file.  When you burn (either imgburn or cdclone) you set the booktype to DVD+R DL (not DVD-ROM).

To make disk that fall into catagory 3 you follow the wxripper procedure editing the layer (first 3 lines have their first characters changed from C to D), use SSmerge to verify your SS.bin is valid and use NME convert.bat to build the final game.iso file.  When you burn (either imgburn or cdclone) and setting the booktype to either DVD+R DL or DVD-ROM.

At this point I'm not sure what to think..I've ohmed out my mod install several times and believe it to be wired up correctly but there's no way I couldn't have at least one backup that would boot.  I know I've follwed the exact procedures above and have not had any luck.

Anyways I wanted to share so we can build on the info we find.  I'm not sure I'm willing to screw with this anymore till there's something more concrete or a new version of SSmerge is released.  At this point I'm not sure the mod is working at all, but don't know.

If I think of anything else I'll update this message..thanks!

Kat, I can verify that one same issue with the original not working the first couple times happened to me as well but have not seen it since.

I also want to add that I don't feel one bit sorry for modding the drive.  The way these drives read the disk (and rub the disk slightly making a potential coaster out of the Original) gives me all the more justification for making backups.  Over time I can see rings forming around my disks without even touching the console while a disk is in.  Unfortunatly I was just over the 90 day warrantee when I found this issue.  Good work M$.  I am another sucker.

sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I have that burner and I was using FujiFilm DVD+R DL and tried many different ways to get a working NME-patched backup on my Samsung drive without any luck. I found out that it must have been the NME-360 modchip or the way I was patching the games because when I installed the Globe-360, all of my copies that I thought were coasters, worked perfectly.

I would say this burner can definitely burn good copies, and that I was probably not patching the games correctly.

I have a Sony DRU-810A and am using Memorex DVD +R burnt at 2.4x.  I have an occasional issue with the game booting, but I just eject and reinsert and it usually begins working.

I have gotten this on a disc that I failed to place the appropriate breakpoint (which is always 1913760) into Imgburn.  Once I inserted this value and reburnt, it worked fine.

I have questions that are pretty easy to answer, i think.

1) How hard is the NME360v1.1 (for the samsung) to install?
2) Where are the most indepth instructions on how to solder the NME360 to the drive? I showed someone i know who can solder pretty well the instructions i saw on modarea, but he asked if there are more detailed instructions anywhere, so i'd love to find that.
3) If i want to remove the NME-360 from the board, is that difficult? or is it the same difficulty (if not easier) than installing it?
4) I have the ms28 firmware and ill be using the hacked firmware of the SH-D162C. If i just install the modchip, there are no other big issues i need to know about, right?

I hope this isnt too many questions and i hope they are easy to answer. Thanks in advance

1) easy only 4 wires.  use the ALT points!

2) try the nme-360 main site as well.

3) not difficult to remove, since NO TRACES are CUT.  and its only 4 points.

4) leave your original firmware on the xbox360 dvd drive and install and you are done.
and you can use the 162C for your backing up.  more details at the nme-360 site.

After closer looking (at both the tutorial on modarea and the team underdog site), i have noticed that you must solder four wires from the modchip to the four points (one just to the side of the modchip, two to the right of the SST chip and one on the other side of the board). Now i have no idea if the modchip comes with the four wires already soldered, but either way, i know they need to be connected to the spots shown on the modchip.

Now is that all? does the modchip just "rest" on the board? Or I hope thats not a noobish question. And yeah, if it just rests on there, then all i need to do to remove it would be to heat up the soldering points of the four wires connected to the drive, which im sure isnt that difficult smile.gif

Im sure i may need future help if i decide to get this modchip, lol. But for now, i just have one about soldering. I've asked a similar question about this elsewhere, and i got replies that it was hard and could easily damage the dvd drive and that i have to "dremel" on the dvd drive board and i have to remove the eproxy. Is that correct? Or are those replies from people who just don't like the NME and may be trying to persaude me not to get one?

Some say its easy, some say its hard. im just confused sad.gif Thanks a lot for your help so far though.

Well the NME 360 1.1 How I see it is really for the fewer wire counts with bug fixes. It depends which drive you have the NME-360 1.1 is out for the Hitachi and the Samsung. As for the LE is only for the Samsung.

But My question is that I havnt been albe to burn a suscessful backup. I have tried using the wxRipper and then converting with Xbox SS Merger 1.7b then using CloneCD to burn it. Burned using the Pioneer 111D "Fw: 1.29"

But it sounds like the laser is skipping sometimes and I have got both "Open Tray" and "Insert in a Xbox 360".

And Was burning at 2.4x

First post says burning backups with a pio 111D will NOT WORK.

I have a Pio 110D and backups work fine.

Installing the NME V1.1 on a sammy is easy. I am a rookie, i had a mess about on broken PCBS to practice and just tried soldering etc to small locations.

The 4 Main points for the chip to work are pretty easy ... BUT :

(if ur a beginner/rookie) USE ALTERNATIVE POINTS 1 & 2 scrape away the epoxy with the soldering iron turned on, only scrape to the points u need (so bottom left left leg and 4rth leg up on the right of SST chip) and solder to these points, 5 and 6 are pretty easy I managed to solder all these points easily with a 0.1mm tip.

Fot the Network point you will need to use a smaller tip, i used a 0.01mm tip and after about 5 attempts
got a good strong clean connection.

I did not bother with the LED status because i didnt have the right torx screw lying about.

ANYHOW if ur a rookie, dont dive in , do some pratice, get used to the heat of the soldering iron. take it nice n slow. (n have a cuppa on the side to relax (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif))

Has anyone had any luck with the Pioneer 111D drive?

And I have read about the Pioneer 111L Fw update?

However, when i put in a game it says 'reading' and then 'open tray'

Ok for all of you out there i can confirm that Pioneer 109 works and makes great working backups.
I have Samsung drive on the Xbox with NME 360 v1.1 and use Verbatim dual layer.
You dont have to change the booktype with v1.1
Also i read that you convert the iso and the ss with SS Merger.
DON'T DO THAT!!!!!
Thats the wrong way and it wont work!!!!!
you only use the SS Merger for cheking if you got a correct SS for your ISO!!!!
After that in the same directory put the ISO, change its name in IMAGE.000 and use convert bat (witch you putted in the same directory as the ISO and the SS) who will pach them to be compatible with NME.
At the end you will have GAME.ISO and GAME.DVD files. The GAME.ISO file must be 7.17gigs after conversion, and before it about 7.5...
Than open Clone CD, find the GAME.DVD file and burn it...
You may notice that the .dvd file created by wxripper you dont need!!!!
Burn it and you are finished.
This way works for me every backup that i make form my original games....
Good Luck!!!

If you have the V1.1 chip, it should work fine.

If you have the v1.1 chip and it is properly installed, it will work with any burner as long as you follow the procedures EXACTLY as they are on the team underdog website.

I would recheck my installation if I were you.  I myself was so certain that I had done everything correctly, but the number 1 point wire (on the underside) never had a good connection.  I soldered it straight onto the chip and it all works fine now.

Thank you for replying IMI_II_IK_IE.

From what I am reading in the forums the NME360 does not work period with back ups burned by the Pioneer 111 burner. The NME360 people claimed the chip worked with this drive and as of right now it does not. That is why I was checking to see if anyone had luck with the Pioneer 110 and the Hitachi 47DH. I can certainly understand a bad solder point. No combination will work with that.

I have already triple checked my solder points and all are fine.

I also am certainly not going to buy a cheaper burner for the NME360. My stack of coasters seems to be pointing to reflashing the Hitachi with the OPA Xtreme v2.1 Hitachi-LG Firmware 7in1 which I know works with the Pioneer 110. I wanted to avoid doing this but it looks like I have no choice.

The intent of the NME360 was good but the fact that it doesn't work with best burner the Pioneer 111 and most likely my 110 as well seems like complete waste of time and money. If the NME360 can provide a simple firmware flash to the Pioneer burners that's fine but if the modchip need to be reflashed it's hittin' the trash...

Simple formula

Samsung + nme modchip + pioneer 111d = working

firmware moded samsung + pioneer 111d = working

Hitachi + nme modchip + pioneer 111d = none working backups

firmware modded hitachi + pioneer 111d = working

Support = nill @ moment from team underdog after 3 weeks of emails without any responses

ALl i rememebr is when nme 1.1 released was stated life gets easier for 111d owners which apparently is not so.

Hey all.

I just got my nme360 v1.1 and started to solder wires to the pcb. However, I can't get the points 1 & 2 to stick. How would I solder a wire to those points. They don't seem to be metal.

I use a standard soldering iron with a solder wire made for electronics.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the install on the hitachi drive.  If the backups work in the samsung but not hitachi, its not the burner.

I had the same problem.  I ended up taking the epoxy off and using the alt. points on the eeprom.

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking the same thing, but I was afraid that the eeprom would be easily damaged if I was a bit careless removing the epoxy and so on.

A sub-question:
If I have managed to brick my drive. Should I buy a new samsung or hitachi then?

From what I understand, if you have managed to brick your dvd drive, you are screwed, unless you can backup your current drive and clone a new one.

About the epoxy.... there was a video put on the XS frontpage a couple of days ago on how to do it.  It looks very simple, if you have a heat gun.

Anyone having weird problems with Memorex DL backups? My NME chip works flawlessly and my backups worked for a while as well. All of a sudden my backups of my most frequently played games started acting funny. sometimes they would load, work for a while then freeze and eventualy I'd get the 'Unrecognized Disc, please clean' message. Other times they wouldn't load at all. Is there something wrong with Memorex media that causes it to rapidly degrade or something? The discs barely have any scratches on them. I'm considering switching to Verbatim media but I don't want to fork out money for Verbatim media if the Memorex's aren't the real problem. The backup I play the least still works flawlessly.

Also of note, it could be a coincidence, but all my problems started after I started playing the latest demo disc (Rainbow Six Vegas) from OXM.

Fot the Network point you will need to use a smaller tip, i used a 0.01mm tip and after about 5 attempts
got a good strong clean connection.

I did not bother with the LED status because i didnt have the right torx screw lying about.

i can't seem to fins the diagrams for network shutoff and the led where did you get them

i've tried different ways of burning it, i dont know what else to try anymore...

does it matter which burner i use if i already have used the Samsung SH-D162 drive to extract the image...

Hi,

I have NME-360 v1.1 with Sammy drive (ms28)
Samsung SH-D162
And Sony burner (can't remmebre from the top of my head) but any way....
Games: Dead Rising, Splinter Cell, Call of Duty 3, Gears of War
I did follow the procedure to a ste by step as well, to a difference that i did not solder 10 'n 11th wires (they are for disconnecting the nework and LED indication when chip is on)
And I backed up all my 4 games and they all work fine, I used clone CD-in fact i did not know exactly which version of the chip i have (I was noobie) and there are two different way burnig NME ready image for 1.0 and 1.1 (Img and CloneCD respectivelly)
Very first thing to check - is your originals PLAY with chip installed ??? If they are try - different media (Memorex +RDL) worked fine - I checked (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and/or burner, or read bellow MASTER/SLAVE cofig.
Then I would start trouble shooting from checking the solder points (One thing to mention here, I first soldered 2nd and 1st wires to the chip itself (SST) after i removed epoxy - and none of my even originals worked, the movie DVD's however worked fine, i then cleaned very carefuly the green-ish epoxy from above the trace for alternative point 2dn and then on back of the mobo for position 1. Do not rush -  I f@cked up one mobo by rushing - it is better to cover the closest "open/exposed" traces of the processor by sticky paper/tape. As solder position very close to open traces in diagramme.
After that, it played orginals! Good!
then I did back up's as per underdog's istructions (with Schtorm extraction, and with NME assosiator converted to NME image. Do not forget you extracting as xtreme image - default in schtorm extractor sofware, right?, and then you check "Extract security sector from the image and overright the Image")
And I read it somewhere: SH-D162 should be MASTER, Burner - Slave, speed no more than 2.4x,
Media: People say Verbtrain (I did not check) , I used Memorex (+R) worked fine!!!
Very last thing would be to go to: shops buy dif kind of burenrs and truy, ones do not work return! Do not kow where you are - you know your stores better

Bottom line is NME360 works and not only with Pioneer 111D and Verbtrian media

Goodluck

i have an LG burner, nme 1.1 on a samsung drive. my originals play fine. I have the gears of war release on my desktop, used the nme associator to extract the security sector, burned the image using clone cd on verbatim at 2.4 and i get the white error screen telling me to insert a xbox 360 disc???

Im having some troubles too when trying to burn my created backups.
So would anyone be so polite to give me a hint what i'm doing wrong?
As there are many tutorials out there, i tried to check as much as possible, but still no go it seems.

What do we have here? I've got an 360 with an NME 1.1, but don't know what drive is built-in.
I've got an SDH-162C with latest Kreon fw to do the backups (was included with the xbox)
So i did my backups with Xbox Backup Creator, afterwards i extracted everything i could out of the originals, just to be sure.
Then it was suggested to patch the 'clean" image with NME Associat0r to get the SS patched in at the right place.
I burnt the resulting image using an LG- GSA4163B and Verbatim DL media, paying attetion to the Layer Break.

Is the above process wrong in general or would it result in working backups?

Anyone, please help me out a bit?

I followed all the directions on team underdOgs website and it worked perfectly. But it suggests using the provided Schtrom360Xtract V3.1 for the disc extraction not Xbox Backup Creator and Then the NME aSSociat0r for the SS. Then CloneCD for the burn on verbatim dvd+rdl. Good luck!

Hi,
I'm new to this and i haven't done anything yet to my 360, not even opened it up. I have one of the first xbox 360's (from moutain dew sweeps) and i know its the Hitachi drive.  Is the NME v1.2 a good mod chip for this or should i wait till the NME v1.3 comes out.  I heard there was a reason to wait for the new version, not sure why.

Where is a good reputable place to buy the mod chip from?  I don't want to order from a place thats gonna get shutdown or not ship my product.

Also will a plextor px-740a dvd burner work to burn backup copies of my games for that chip?

Thanks for the help

I ordered my NME 1.2 from the foundmy.com and it's been delayed twice.  It happens - not bashing them.  Poor guys just want their stock so they can make all of us whiney customers happy! hehe  So once it arrives, I'll try to find a decent install procedure and get it all hooked up.

I've been using the method on Team Underdogs website to backup my games.  I bought Verbatim DVD+R DL's from newegg with a 10.00 rebate on the 20 packs.  I also bought the Samsung DVD ROM for my computer (from ebay - got ripped - ouch).  Flashed it up with Kreon.

I've backed up all 8 of my games and am just waiting for the chip to know if it worked.

Here's the procedure in a nutshell.

1) Rip the game using Scthrom 3.1
2) Patch with NME Associater
3) Burn with Image Burn being mindful of the layer break and burn at 2.4x

Should be a winning combination.  Will report back when I have the chip installed.

Cheers

Woo - yay for this topic, no need for so many NME questions.  But here come a bundle from me

1.  Can someone suggest a good burner?  I know the acclaimed Pioneer 111 (or something) does not work, so a good burner suggestion would be nice, external if possible (i have a shuttle PC and i'm pretty sure you need special ones due to the size)

2.  I'm in the UK, and from what i learn we get Sam/Tosh drives, but they have black resin on them.  I've seen the process on how to remove it, but was wondering just how hard it is?  (i have the tools for the job)

3.  Lastly, just how easy is this to install, i have some engineering experience (probably prefere to take apart a console or PC then reprogram it) and i got all the tools.  But how easy is it and now long does it take?

Thanks, Dee

hey i have a few questions too! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

first when will the diagrams for the nme 1.2 be released?i wanna buy this chip but until i c  clear instructions im not gonna proceed

second:how many wires to solder on a samsung drive?

finally  i would like to say that this seems the best solution available for the 360 so far no argue about that.

the nme original diagrams with 4 - 5 wires to install didnt seem too  hard to install
i know the globe360 is much more powerful that the nme but in ratio... 30 wires to install.. not worth the risk of messin up the whole console

fw hack is great but to be honest i rather spend 40 e now and enjoy the console to the full with live, than havin to spend 400 euro for a new console if i get banned

Well, looking at that wiring diagram I'd say that you don't have to remove the epoxy - and even though it's 11 wires for the v78fk drive, they're all together on the exposed part of the PCB - there's no wiring onto hte back of SMT compoments or any pain in the ass like that.

If it works (which it might) - I see it being a 20 minute job.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place and please delete if not...

But - you have to unrar the images etc.  If your iso is only 3.x gigs - it's not a good image.

I installed the NME V1.2 2 days ago. It was a real PITA. I probably wouldn't do it again. Those 9 wires next to each others are a challenge and it took me 5 hours. At first I got the E64 error , I checked my connection several time and finally got the XBOX to boot. I was the getting Disc unreadable. I tweaked the laser down to 3.4Kohms, but no go, then at 2.9 I started to get one backup to start every two or three try. When I reached 2.6 everything started to work and I have had no problems since. I have the hitachi 59D drive and I burn with a NEC-3550A DVD+R DL Booktype.
I have played XBOX live without problems so far.

I just did the NME 1.2 on a sammy. My board doesn't have the 'X' and 'Y' points as illustrated in the diagrams for the Sammys. WTF. I even had to borrow a torx-9 to take apart the whole MB to get to bottom side. I must have a different revision than everyone here who's had success. I did an MS25 to be exact. Umm....The points X and Y are not on the DVD drive board. Ones on the LED board on the back side of where your power ligths are and the other one "Network" is on the MOBO on the Fan Side near the Top.

Also the Pioneer 111D is supposed to be fixed for the Hitachi models. So dont worry about that.

I knew it's not on the dvd drive board.  Read my post! Notice I didn't say I can't find it anywhere on the DVD drive board. Plus you didn't notice I said I borrowed a torx-9 to look under the mobo? There was like 7-10 little black torx screws holding the mobo to the metal casing. How did you miss that? Geez you kids should learn to read. When I say I can't find it on "MOBO"....I meant network point on main board. I should've took picture to show you guys...but I gave it back to friend already. He's okay with it without network cutoff and activity led for now. Until team underdog makes a suitable diagram I'm SOL. I  found the R1C1 point, but it doesn't have a resitor to solder to. It looks identical to the R1C2 point, ie has two open connections to which to solder a resistor. Thanks for the input...but I'm better off contacting my supplier. Hmmmmmm......yawn! This is really aggravating. :[ For Team Underdog: Here's the model number I have on the main mobo: X803600-011. It's a ms25 drive.

edit: sorry for coming off pissy, but I have 6 times more posts than you and I've been doing xboxes and ps2 for a long time now...so I know how to help myself. You notice I don't bash team underdog like other's have been.
dude they're really working hard to make us benefit, while helping themselves too. $45 dollar/ chip is pricey. But that's what they can do since they're pioneers. It's just the customers I will be having in future that I will have to explain to them in laymen's terms too. Hope they understand...some don't

I just installed it also and i have no idea if it works or not.  Everything boots up fine, and all original games works.  But i can't tell if the chip work, and i can't make backups my self cause all i have is the Pioneer111D.  I tried downloading some backups, and followed the instructions on the TeamUD site, but the 360 doesn't seem to read them.  All i get is some screen saying that "to play this disc put it in an xbox360".  does that mean that the chip isn't working, or that they were burnt bad.  Is there something else i have to do to a DL'ed backup to burn them or is it my pioneer burner that doesn't burn them.  I also use verbatim DVD+R DL dics.  Any help would be great since TeamUD doesn't seem to help.
Thanks.

Thanks.

I have one game, GOW, which worked at first and is now giving me the same error (put this disc in X360).
I wonder if the last Xbox live update I applied last night are for something in this.
I'm goign to try another burn to see if it is the disk or the game.
Have you try several games and do you get the same message for all of them? If not, try a different one.

I have tried 2 different backups (FEAR and Viva P.) and same message for both.  I picked up a Sony DRU-820A burner and i will try agian.  I'll let you know if i get any better results.  I wish i could just make my own backups and know for sure what the problem was.  I wonder if i can adjust the firmware on either the Sony or pioneer drives.  I'll have to look into that some more, unless anyone knows something.

Maybe I mised something but ehhhh I just installed a nme1.2 to my 360 and it is not working... I'm trying to figure it out I did it wrong or if its just media /burner issues I mean I actually can still play regular games. I get the insert xbox 360 game screen when I put in a burned game. I'm using verbatim dvd dl+  an an external lite-on shm-165p6ws07. What do you all think the problem is? Should I buy another burner or just try and install the chip again? OH yeah its a samsung drive

Ok so now i have tried on 2 different burners, the Pioneer 111D and the Sony DRU820A.  Same errors on both.  I am still unsure if it's the chip or it's the backups.  Can someone give me a sure way of burning DL'ed backups or a name of a group that realeases ones that work with the NME1.2  Thanks.  I'll be checking my sloder points but i am damn sure i didn't screw up there.
Thanks.

Are you running NME-360 aSSociat0r.exe to make your ISO nme compatible?
Burn process I use

Use Xbox Backup Creator to confirm that the iso is valid (Stealth check)
Run NME-360 aSSociat0r.exe to convert iso to NME format
Start IMGBURN , verify that layer break is set at 1913760
delete the line LayerBreak=1913760 from the .dvd file (probably not needed but I just do it since it is working for me)
Select the .dvd file and start burning.

Ok so i am doing a few of these things but not all.  I did convert the .ISO files using the NME-360 aSSociat0r.exe file and they converted to the proper size.  I did not however check the images before hand and i will do that now.  Also i was burning from the *.ISO file and not the *.DVD file.  Does this really make a difference? I will try and see.  And duente, i am not planning on buying anymore burners, i only did so because i was reading some ppl saying that the pioneer didn't burn the sectors in the correct posotion for some mods.  So i thought that might have been the problem.

YEah, images passed all checks, converted to NME and burnt.  Still doesn't work.  So maybe the chip isn't installed correctly after all.

Make sure the image size in IMGBURN is 7,705,657,344
Use Book-type DVD+R DL
Use IMGBURN to check if there is a newer firmware for your burner or go to www.rpc1.org.
Burn slow, don't exceed 2.4x until you can confirm that your backups are working.
Go lower on your laser pot. Go down to 2.5Kohms if you have the hitachi drive

The 360 drive is a TS so no need to adjust laser pot unless i missed that somewhere.  Should I?
The firmwares are updated to the latest, and i do burn at 2.4x.
The book type on the pioneer by default is DVD+R DL, and i can't change it, but the sony i can change and i have tried both booktype DVD-ROM and DVD+R DL and same errors.  I even tired playing some XBOX1 backups and they do not work.  Original Halo and Halo 2 works as do all original 360 games as well.
What WOULD happen if the chip was not installed correctly?

You need it because there will be grounding issues if you don't use it. I heard you're supposed to use a little thicker wire from that point to point on chip. 28 gauge is what I used. I also didn't use solid copper...I used stranded copper. It works. I hear my customer says its fine and boots up and reads games

Hey SadisticEkoEz,  just use doublefaced tape and stick it to the reverse side of the board you just soldered all your connections to.  You can find installation guides on this website.

Specifically for the Hitachi Drive.

Could a bad ground connection (to TP405) cause the E64 error I'm getting? Also the TP405 is in a different location on my drive than the nme-360 website shows, is there an alternate point I could try.
Thanks,

Hey all!

Maybe i'll give one or two good clues,
because i know some people with premodded boxes with NME 1.1 and 1.2.

NME 1.1: Has to be activated first. Power up xbox with the eject button.
The inner (o) led should then turn off. Then you should put in your backup.
If you put in your backup without, you only get a message saying you should put this
disc in a xbox360. Also turns out to suffer from heat problems and bad soldering  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

NME 1.2: Behaves exactly as what the description said for the 1.1 version,
automatically recognizes whether original or backup copy has been inserted.
Eject button has no special effect.

Naturally, self-modded boxes may vary in behavior.

For the drives, have a look at:
http://konsolenprofis.de/xbox360_umbau/xbox360-laufwerke.jpg
The leftmost drive of the three, a philips, is not compatible with nme at all.
Appears all of the premodded drives have toshiba/samsung drives, easily
recognizable with only one hole. Nice fact: booktype doesn't matter to those.

Finally, never forget to run your images through nme ass0ciator.
And i can only repeat what's ever been told, and most important:
use verbatim dvd+r dl media, if you have a decent burner then
recording speeds shouldn't matter. Up till now i have burnt with
an lg gsa 4163 but more often with a plextor px-760a.

All progs you need: schtrom360xtract, imgburn, NME-360 aSSociat0r
but you can use whatever you like to create your backup...

Hope it helps a bit

False. NME 1.1 autodetects backups and turns itself on/off depending on what it is found. IE) I can leave a backup in the console, turn it on using the wireless controller and start playing said backup. I have installed 4 NME1.1s and noone has complained about it not working as stated. (Did one Xeno360 today where you DO have to activate it with the eject button).

I believe booktype doesn't matter to either drive. The Phillips drive was only in dev units, according to what I've read. THOUGH there is a new BenQ drive that won't be compatible for a while.

True. Though I haven't had any problems with Memorex media. I only burn at 2.4x. Though I haven't had any problems with the Verbatims I burned faster. 8x? I think.

I too have a pioneer 111D usin git with NME 2.0, I have so far got 2 games working using imgburn using verbatim discs and infiniti, strangly the infiniti discs are the 2 that work ok? Just get Open Tray error on others.

I need to know if the Pioneer 111D with manufacturers firmware is ok to use or should I try another drive? I friend is gong to give me a Pioneer 109 to try.

All the discs that wont work on the NME chipped xbox work on my flashed xbox? I am using the NME associater to patch the iso file then ImgBurn to burn it. I this the discs are ok, they certaninly work on my flash console. Is there a known proble with NME2.0 and pioneer 111D.

Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps someone else other then myself, after countless coaster burns i think i found what works (for myself but perhaps someone else too)
heres my equipment
BURNER:Pioneer 111D burner
READER: Samsung SH-D162C W/Kreon
MEDIA: HP DVD+R DL
burned tons of coasters tryin to figure out what worked for me so thought i would share it and hope that it helps someone else out.
1st, uninstall Clonecd if u already have it on your pc
2nd uninstall IMGburn
Reinstall IMG burn if u use that, then install Clonecd then do a pc restart
(something happens when you do a fresh install of the clonecd that helps)
ok so once thats been done you should be good and ready to start makin the backups
here is the process that i have learned works for my system

1: EXTRACT IMAGE(i use XBC v 2.6)
2: now theres different ways you can go about doing this but heres my method
use Mulleter and load up the ISO, make sure everything is good there. Now, if you dont have a .dvd file for your ISO, extract it here using the "other" tab on mulleter and selecting "make .dvd file"
if you do have a .dvd file you will need to get the SS file from your image on the "stealth" tab
select "EXTRACT SS" and save that along with your ISO image file.
3: open up Xbox360 SS Merge (i use version 1.7b)
Select your ISO file, hit OK on the promps except for the one that asks yes or no, select "NO"
then thru xbox 360 SS Merge: put in/select the SS file that you created earlier with Mulleter.
make sure that the option: "add video partition (xtreme style)" is UNCHECKED
and that "CREATE A NME COMPATABLE ISO" is CHECKED
now hit "MERGE AND CREATE LAYER BREAK FILE" should get a prompt after its done saying its ready to burn
now (but its not actually, at least not for me)
4: now open up "NME-360 aSSociat0r"
on the merge tab select your ISO AND your SS file.
now just switch over to your "CONVERT" tab
CONVERT
and its now ready to burn, i have tried numerous methods of burning, and this is the only way that has proved to be 100% effective for me, other methods sometimes work, but most often just give me coasters
so i hope that someone else is able to use this with the success that i have had with it

**IMPORTANT FOR PIONEER 111D USERS**
If you are one of the many people that has this burner, and plan to put this modchip in, you will have to get another burner. This burner will not proper burn the image to be compatible with NME-360 modchip, yeah i now it sucks, but this is the true and it have been teste by my self and other of my friends.
Thanks..

I have to disagree man!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont understand where you get the from......?????? I have a Pioneer 111D and it works great!! I have an nme 1.2 chip and I have never had a problem (been using for over a year now). I have probably burned over 40 discs with this drive and never had a problem....I backup with my samsung and burn with my pioneer.........Is there something that I'm missing here???????????

ALSO
I also burn my wii games with my pioneer, which is a totally different subject, but the wii is WAY more picky about percise burning than the 360. The pioneer is known for it's reliable and stable burning.

Guys Guys Guys........I think you all are making this WAY more complicated than it really is.....This is my method and I think it is WAY less confusing.....NONE OF THAT EXTRACTING AND MERGING ALL OVER THE PLACE........here goes... this is for NME chip of course

My equipment:
1.samsung drive flashed with Kreon software
2.pioneer 111D drive to burn with
3. Schtrom360Xtract V3.2 (there may be a newer one but this works fine)
4.NME aSSociat0r
5. Imgburn

Steps:
1. open Schtrom360Xtract V3.2, select samsung drive, by task: whole disc (stealth extreme 3.0), click extract
2. after that 1 step you have 2 files............, NOW, open NME associator, hit convert tab, select the ISO FILE you just extracted (not .DVD), Click convert...........BOOOOOOOOM DONE..........
3. load the .DVD file in Imgburn...... BURN............ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really dont understand why ppl want to go through all this extracting merging and all that confusing crap....
I hope this helped someone out.......DONT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH ALL THAT CONFUSING CRAP
OH and I also burn at 2x.....it's slow but the slower you burn the more stable your burn will be, which means you will have a smaller chance for errors, and the 360 doesnt like errors.....

I also have the Pioneer 111D with original firmware.

But so far all discs that I have tried for the NME2.0 aren't working.

I took an iso that I had on my drive and used the convert tool from NME.
Burned with cloneCD.. disc didn't work.

Is ImgBurn better to use for NME ?? Cause I have never had a problem with CloneCD for iXtreme before.

thanks

I agree that some methods are more confusing than others, but I would suggest using SSMerger to extract and re-insert the SS.bin file.  There are good guides (esp. LetsMod) that take you step by step through using XBox  Backup Creator, SSMerger and ImgBurn to create a perfectly working backup.

In regard to FATGUTS method of extracting the SS.bin with DVD mulleter, re-inserting  with SSMerger and then using NME Associator I have a few comments.

To simplify this method you could just use SSMerger to both extract and re-insert. Also, once the SS.bin is inserted with SSMerger why do you need to then use NME Associator to do the same thing. The process has already been completed by using SSMerger in the first instance.

Once the SS.bin is inserted with SSMerger you have finished creating the ISO to burn. Now just run ImgBurn, load the .dvd file and burn to a good quality (Verbatim) DL disc and use.

Got mine working...

I can confirm that the Pioneer 111D does burn the NME images properly.

Also I used FujiFilm discs, which also work fine, not to mention alot cheaper than the verbatims.
If you can get verbatims on sale.. by all means buy them. If not the Fuji's are a great alternative.

I simply took one of the games I had on my hard drive and used the NME Associator to convert it.
And then burned with CloneCD the same way I did for Ixtreme images by pointing it to the .dvd file.

Simple way for those to check to see if the chip is working with a BenQ drive.

1. Power on x360 by a quick press of the power button = chip off. In this mode the console will read originals and not backups... obviously

2. Power on x360 by holding the power button for a few seconds = chip on. In this mode the console will not read originals but it will read backups.

3. Also check to make sure your wireless controllers are working.

If all that looks good, then you have a working install. Keep in mind this is from my experice with a BenQ unit. I can not speak for other models at this time.

Also a note on chip placement. I place the chip on top of the drive unit. And ran the wires from the points on the board outside the dvdrom and onto the chip. By using different colored wires for each point and writing them down as you go it's very easy.
You can find a picture here. Also make sure to insulate the top and bottom of the chip with electrical tape.

Faguts... I have successfully made a backup, however created 2 coasters. In your point 4 when you associate it with NME-360 aSSociat0r, it breaks your image and the disk does not work. For somereason there is not clear straight way to make perfect backups on nme2. This modchip is so difficult to handle.

For NME 2. So far the best way I've found it to work is.
* Extract ss.bin using dvdmulleter
* then on ssmerger select nme option and ignore all the warnings.
* finally use only clonecd to burn using only the DVD file.

My two cents...

I was having problems getting working NME burns on my Pioneer 111d....till I bought the latest Pioneer 115D. This now has no problems burning..

Use Verbatims or Ritek
SS merger 1.6 to convert iso
IMGburn
Booktype set at default

Works fine for me  biggrin.gif
