Title: Modchip Required?
Post by: Textbook on July 05, 2006, 11:46:00 AM
NME and Globe are pointless for you then. Basically, these chips cater to people who aren't able to flash their firmware or are afraid to. The only thing that sucks is you will have to flash your firmware every time you want to backup a game. So that means...flash to backup...backup your game...flash to hacked...play the backup..
That's 2 flashes right there. Now, do that every time you get a new game. I personally don't feel it's the flashing that is the annoying part. It is opening the Xbox 360 that sucks. If you are being honest and making your own personal backups, either do an external SATA mod or suffer by opening up the 360 all the time.
If you are sailing the high seas with your skulls and crossbones, then you should be good with just your hacked firmware.

Actually now they have integrated firmwares for the Samsung drive (and soon for Hitachi) so that you only need to flash the drive once and can swtich between modes.

Yeah, but you still have to open up the 360
Good thing I have my external SATA

I cant understand why anyone would be scared to flash firmware but not scared to solder one of these things

after seeing some peoples soldering "skillz" I would think they would be off better flashing their drive, if you can solder a globe chip, then you should be able to flash a drive, its way simpler. The problem is people dont read, ask questions then try to do thi stuff. I read the tutorial for each drive a few times and I understood it quite well. People just want to jump the gun to soon before they do things.

i see what your saying bong, some people "skillz" leave somewhat to be desired.
i was coming from a completely personal standpoint, i dunno, i just always get freaked out whenever im doing anything like that in a software environment, including TSOPing etc
but yeah having browsed through a few tutorials they are acctually very easy to understand should you want to flash your drive.
