I think what you're looking for is in the beginning parts of this thread:

There's something you have to load onto your drive to give it backwards compatibility.

Hello all,

First sorry if this has been answered, but I have had no luck finding a clear easy way and answer of how to do it.  Also sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Now let me start by saying that I have been a out of the scene for quite some time now and have been having a personal battle off and on now with cancer, so I am not able to enjoy life at least for now like I previously have been.  So with that said you can see why I am limited in being able to search for answers and try to make heads or tails out of the information I do find when I have the time to do research and so on.

With that I would love it if someone here could point me to any easy step by step guide with out having to hex edit and such.

What I am looking for is an easy guide that will allow me to take my non-offical 250GB HD and be able to get backwards compatibility on it.

Things I have,  A first Gen Xbox360 that is not modded in any way.

An original stock MS-20GB HD that has backward compatibility on it and working.

A 250GB Non-MS HD that has been cloned(WD2500BEKT) which does work in the 360 except for the backwards compatibility.

So am I asking for someone to please point me to an easy step by step guide to be able to get the 250GB HD to have backwards compatibility on it.

As stated because of me having to battle cancer and being constantly drugged up and tried and in pain and sleeping most of what time I would like to do things I am limited to being able to search for the stuff myself.

Thanks to all who answer and took the time to read this long post.
