Title: E79 After Aud_clamp Boxxdr Method
Post by: Shintax909 on May 08, 2011, 10:59:00 PM
i followed the aud_clamp tutorial (provided by syntaxerror) along with the db-25/cat5 lpt nand dump cable tut... and everything up until i write xell works fine... nand dumps multiple times, matched 2 of 4 dumps, the CB checks out, but when i try and write xell or xellous and turn the 360 on it shows e79... ive looked into soldering an alternate point (?like tray_open or dvd_tray?) but im not confident in resoldering to those points... my soldering skill is mediocre at best (especially since im using lead free instead of 60/40 rosin core) but ive made sure everthings solid. (ill post pics tomorrow) ive tried using nandpro and jtag tool 3.0 and 2.20 but still e79... pretty sure ive tried writing a patched xell to the nand but not positive (tried afew things throughout the day but nothings worked + ive been drinking) so any hints and tips are much appreciated.

You need to be 100% positive. Tell me what motherboard version you have and i can send you the Xellous build i use.

i downloaded a file called 'XeLLous SMC Pathced', renamed 'falcon.xellous.smc.bin' (mobo is a falcon) to xell.bin and wrote with nandpro but still e79

well now ive taken 2 steps backwards, nandpro cant detect my lpt cable. ive been having problems soldering pin 18 to the gnd points, i managed to solder to the underside but that didnt last long. so ive resorted to soldering the wire to an alligator clip and clipping to the cage or the copper screw holes but nothings working. im almost convinced it maybe the comp but im not sure... any pointers?

Once you damage a solder pad or via you might have also damged the trace it joins to. You need to clean the area you soldered and look at it with a magnifing glass to see if you can find the issue. Does the box turn on anymore?
Have you considered hiring a pro to do it for you?

box turns on, still one red light as before... funny thing tho, the couple times i tried to read the nand or kv after trying to reattach the wire the xbox powered on after nandpro says cant locate lpt. it never did that when it worked... hasnt done it recently tho. im considering desoldering all the wires and starting all over, but #$%& i really hate thinkin about it, and at this point im also considering handing it over to a pro but the money factor isnt in my favor right now. all the cash i shelled out on supplies is making think i should just do it myself ykno?
