Title: How About Sega Saturn?
Post by: blueshogun96 on November 29, 2004, 11:36:00 AM
Yeah, I know sega saturn is a hard and complicated thing to emulate.  I don't know how fast one would move on a pc because I have never used one before.  All I know is that Sega Saturn based arcade games move very slow on a pc.  Tell me, is a sega saturn emu on a xbox as pointless as ps2 on xbox?

The open source saturn emu for PC (that runs games at a decent speed) is where?

You could have got this question answered without posting - just by reading the pinned topics in the emu forum, and/or XPort's forum

www.zophar.net.  Like I said, I don't know much about saturn emulation or how fast it goes on a pc.

My awnser was not there. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum.  NOTHING about sega saturn was there.  And when I said Saturn based acade games, I was talking about "Mame roms", NOT sega saturn roms.

EDIT: I didn't mean any disrespect, if any.

Most, if not all, of those listed on the Zophar website are either incomplete or abandoned. Lest we also forget, the code would have to be converted to VC++ (I think the few that are useable in the very least are written in C/ASM).

This is also the "ask it every week" (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit..) topic...

THERE IS NO GAMECUBE, PS2, 3DO, DREAMCAST, JAGUAR, AND SATURN, NOR WILL THERE BE

From the xport forum:

Cassini/Saturn - While technically the source is available for this Saturn emulator, it is primarily one (very) large assembly file which looks like it was created by simply running the GiriGiri EXE file through a disassembler. Porting x86 assembly to the XBox is not generally a problem, but in this case the code makes all sorts of calls to Windows GDI routines that are not implemented in the XBox SDK. This means that in order to port it, I'd have to implement those API calls myself or try to hand-edit the assembly file. Both of those tasks would be extremely tedious and therefore this project is not something that particularly interests me.
