Makes no difference how old the hardware is. It all has to do with what kernel it has and what efuses are blown.

Well you can always mod the DVD drive with custom firmware that will let you play backups burnt to DVD+DL disks. But as for homebrew and such no there is no way at all.

Downgrade is possible on *exploitable* Xenons. The timing attack, JTAG hack, and King Kong exploit are all the same thing - just a different manner of implementation.
