Title: Jtag Question
Post by: Arlen777 on April 07, 2010, 12:08:00 AM
It depends on what console you have, lets say u got refurbished one, which means less likely had rrod, or person who bought it didnt use it too much, will be less likely to crash, or if you got the one that was used for cuople of years and had rrod, and x-clamp etc.

Yes - mainly Falcons,Zephyrs and Jaspers.

Falcons - it's to do with the wiring being on the ROL rail

Jaspers - same as above, but also people saving to the internal memory (due to a small block/ big block hybrid used in XBR)

Zephyrs - They don't get on well with XBR

Chances are slight that you'll get a permenant RLOD with any of them, but for stability the Xenon seems to like XBR the most.

I jTagged 3 Falcons since XBR came out,,,, they're all doing fine till now.....
How much time does it take until the errors start to show up ??!

It may never - thats why I said about a small percentage. Basically, on Falcons and Jaspers the way they're wired can mean you'll get the odd 3lod on boot - sometimes even with NXE booting still whilst the rlod's go for it. Zephyrs are a different matter, as they're fiddly old buggers.

On my Jasper i have never had 3RLOD but a couple of times 2 red lights, one in the upper left corner and one in the bottom right (or was it the other way round...) and sometimes 3 green lights after bootup but the console still working.

I purchased a broken halo edition 360 (3 red lights) spent the time and little money to fix the heat sinks to bolts instead of the x clip and it works now.  had to purchase a 20 gig hard drive for game saves.  now i am debateing jtaging to add an HDD for game iso or just doing a firmware mod to the dvd player for play burn games which i can get cheaply nearby.  soldering isn't a problem i just wonder if since this system has already had an issue if i should jtag it.
