Title: Mame360 Setup To Play Roms ?

hi guys
ive got my XEXloader runnign sweet
it boots up mame no probs
mame360 is runnign from USB0

the question is how the hell do i point it to roms ?!?!?
ive edited the ini file to point to the right place but still no go

any ideas ?

also whats the bet route to go in regards to putting games on the USB HDD too

ive made a folder on my 80GB usb hdd
FAT32
picks up fine in XEXloader
ive used DVDmullter to extract all files form the ass creed 2 game to its own folder inside GAMES folder on the usb hdd.
now i run 360gamehack and point it to this folder to patch right
now do i leave it at all the default options for patching ? or should i tick or untick some ?
when i left it as default it patched 2 xex files in the folder

any help would be sweet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

create a folder within the mame folder called roms and copy the zipped roms into it, you shouldnt need to change the ini file
(i installed it to the root of the external sata and it worked using default settings

so u saying MAME360 folder in the root
or the default.xex file in the root along with (media) and (roms)

i also tried the patching of the default.xex assisns creed 2
but no go
i uses xdvdmulleter to rip all the files from within the iso, you think this is right ?
as the final folder was about 2.5gb i think ??!?!?
is this right as im sure it wont extract the random padding will it ?

k, just checked mine...
I have mine in the usb0:/emus/mame folder. that is the same setting as the default ini setting

once i created that i basically copied my mame subdirectories from my pc into the mame folder, so basically all the cabinets, flyers, marquees folders etc were all copied to the mame folder (call it mame, not mame360 or you will need to make changes to the .ini file)

got it setup like that now.
i will name it mame inside the emus folder too
ive transfered my (S) roms in there too as im a street fighter nut
shame no1 has uploaded it to newsgroups :S
its DLC aint it ?

thats all i play on live lol

I insert myself in the thread... Does someone have successfully configured mame to work without an USB drive ?

MAME360 is installed as XeX to work with XeXLoader

Mame is in HDD1:\MAME360
Roms are in HDD1:\MAME360\roms

here is my HDD1:\MAME360\Media\options.ini file

Also tried with hdd:\ instead of hdd1:\ (as it was usb:\ before) and with relative path (.\roms and roms without the dot)

I can only load roms from an USB drive (even when renaming usb:\mame360 to usb:\mame720 and when changing rom path...)

In all cases, I do not have my rom listed in mame... It's the last thing to make my 360 perfect for a cab (in fact, this and running SF IV from the xbox drive too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif))

rename the folder "Mame360" to just "Mame" and put it in the "emus" folder, then you don't have to use the .ini file.

Deleting the .ini file was a good tip. I couldn't get anything until I did that and put it in the correct folder.

Have you guys had any issues loading ROMs? I have a handful of old Neo Geo roms that I haven't touched in years, and I couldn't get any of them to load. I dropped the Neo Geo bios in the roms folder too, but no dice.

It would just go through the loading, then back to the MAME menu. Any ideas?

Load roms that conform to the MAME 0.112 romset as that is what MAME 360 is based of when it was released 3 years ago.

Still waiting for an answer.. I can't get the roms to load from the internal 360 hard drive. They show up in the list... they load to 100%! Then it goes right back to the menu. Works fine on USB external ... no dice on 360 HDD sigh

So... I don't have removed the ini file.

In order to load roms in the "roms" folder inside mame's one, just put game:\roms as rompath

someone needs to rewrite this and get it updated and stop wasting time making shitty emulators for GameBoy.

none of the options on this old version of MAME360 are beneficial and useful.

also there needs to be a collection of ROMS that work great with MAME360.

I elect that whoever wrote the GENESIS360 and SNES360 emulators tackle this emulator and make it really the best of the best..

This is correct.
do not delete the options file inside the media folder, although mame will load with the roms if its not edited to the above or the options file is missing completly it wont load the roms.
now you need to paste the roms into a folder in mame called Roms you need to make this folder yourself.
put it in mame folder next to media and the xex file then put the mame file on the root of your hard drive
then add the other files that came with mame 360 in the mame folder

ok now boot your console im using a jtag go to utilities>settings>content settings>manage game paths set the game path to Hdd:\Mame\ when you are in the mame folder press y the change the scan depth to 10 then x to save
