Just USB and Sata. So I purchased a breakout board for FT232RL-USB to Serial. I know I have soldered RX and TX to the correct places on the LPC, I have ground going to the same spot the jumper wire goes to to get it into ISP mode, Now the diagram showed a RS232 board with a VCC solder point, on my FT232 board where the "vcc" would have been for the RS232 I have 3.3v, so I soldered from a VCC pin on the side of my FT232 instead of the 3.3v point. Does this sound right?I have installed LibUSB, (TWICE now- freaking wireless mouse/keyboard HELL! I enjoyed my 90 minute search for my "hardline" keyboard and mouse to recover my pc!)
When I open Flash Magic and try to Read Device Signature I get back an unable to communicate (in use) error. I've checked my Device Manager and it says my USB to Serial driver is installed on Com6, so I'm very sure I have the correct com channel.
Com 1 = Unable to communicate, (in use) Ensure no other applications are using the COM port. Try raising or lowering the baud rate.
Com 2 = " "
Com 3 = "Operation failed (reading signature) COM 3 should be my USB wireless adapter
Com 4 = Same as 1 & 2
Com 5 = "operation failed to autobaud, see Step 1" No worries Com 5 should be my Wireless adapter for Mouse/Keyboard
Com 6 = back to the "normal" error- but seeing as THIS IS the COM port my device manager says the USB to Serial converter is on, I have tried EVERY baudrate option.
For shits and giggles I did test up to Com 12, and I got the usual error of "busy" didn't see a point in going any further as without my USB hubs attatched I only have 6 usb ports. LOL and I thought that would be enough when I bought it.
Help someone?
Yes the ONLY the red power led is lit on the header. NO lights remain on for the FT232 board, they do light up for a few secs though when it's plugged in, and the header remains on, with just the one light assuming I plug it in holding in that reset button and with the jumper wire. (Which is hard to do with only two hands)

Go to the Device manager and see what COM Port has been assigned to it.
Go into the properties / resources and ensure that nothing else is using this port. If it is, try changing it to another.
Try again with the new COM port. Make sure you set the oscillation value (on the crystal on the USB LPC2148 - should be 12.000).

I'm double checking it now and in my control panel when I look by connection it shows I have a USB Serial port on COM 5, now I just tried again for that port as I swear it's on 6 and got the autobahn error, still. Com 6 is still "in use".This oscilation crystal thing? It's something I set on the header? I thought it was a pre set thing and I type it what is in Flash Magic - And I had 16.000 in Flash Magic, not the 12.000 But I'm still getting the same results with both.

Still to no avail. Now I'm putting them back the way they should be. What's this crystal on the header and how do I calibrate it to be at the correct setting or read it to see what the correct MHZ is? On a side note- My "USB Serial Converter" under Universal Serial bus controllers comes up as Port_#0006.Hub_#0001 in it's location of the properties tab.
In my Ports tab, I have a USB Serial Port (Com5) as the only one that shows up.
So I'm now trying to do everything on Com5 instead of Com6 With the same results.
Edit- OMG!!! Playing in the Advanced Options tab, I put a check mark next to"High Speed Communications" and now I get back a Device ID and Bootloader Version 2.12 all the other boxes are empty! But finally something other than an error! Hopefully soon, after two weeks and $200 I can uncripple my hd!
$200= I bought a BUNCH of extra toys I didn't need or know how to use. Including a ARM-USB-OCD programmer/debugger.
With any luck this is my last post, TY for those who helped.

when I run Nandpro I get back Looking for USB Interface device
Could not detect a flash controller
Can not continue

If you're curious I would be posting this in the tutorial thread however it's sitting at 56+ pages, and I'm still on page 9.
I'm hoping for a quicker response. EDIT-
All though I KNOW I have read a thread with the same problem over the past few weeks, I can't seem to find it. Bugger. I did find one for the same problem via LPT. Bah-humbug. I removed the Diode completely, as it was offered as a solution somewhere else, and it was certainly easier than rewiring everything. It didn't help, still couldn't detect the flash controller.
However in my haste it seems I failed to plug the 360 in. (It WAS plugged in before I removed the diode ) So I guess removing the diode completely worked for me. ?¿? PS-Yes it was facing the correct way. And I like writing books to myself.

Who on EARTH suggested that you should be connecting the USB header to the 360 via resistors/diodes etc?? Take them outside and slap them with a large wet fish.
Yes, you need your 360 connected to the PSU for the 5V standby voltage.
Does this mean it's now working ok?
