Title: Detachable Port For Lpt Nand Reading\writing.
Post by: Shroomer on August 22, 2009, 08:07:00 PM
shroomer here aka helltick posting some pics of my port mod for the 360.

i would like to thank hawk for the diagrams he posted here at xs...i wouldnt even have bothered without those hi-rez pics.
i would also like to thank everyone involved creating this dandy little exploit...tiros, tmbinc, others.

i figured if i was to attempt this hack i would make it a solid h\w device.
i knew if i was to keep soldering/desoldering every time...sooner or later i would f#ck something up.

as you know 7 connections must be made to the board for r/w of the 360 nand.
a 1 meter cat 5 cable with a coupler is what i chose to use.

-i added the 100 ohm resistors to the db25.
-i added the 1N914 directly to the 360 mobo.
-cable length from 360 to pc is 36 inches.
-cost me $3.14 at my local electronic store to build this rig.

of coarse i added the 3 330 ohm resistors to boot xell.
thanks again to everyone involved with this exploit.
about fugg'n time...just kidding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
excellent work and much respect.

OMG, thats the exactly the same thing I had done. Except mine on the other side of the hdd so you can have the hdd still plugged in and it work.

ok...cool.
but why would you need the hdd plugged in and working while reading/writing to the nand?
thx though.

No reason, just how I made mine.

nice work...i figured i had better conceal it under the hdd or some idiot would come along and plug my network cable into the port trying to access live.
also, i can remove the cable from db25 connector and add to usb controller without opening my 360 to expedite the process.

Yo Mhawk do you connect that header to a vga cable and then read the cpu key from the pc screen? Im having a hard time understanding the process. I thought you needed a db25.

I connect that pinheader to a ribbon cable that goes to a db25 man.

LOL, this thread is gonna turn into a 'Pics of your leet wiring skills for LPT NAND interfaces' anyway,  so I decided to post mine just for shits.

I decided to make a dedicated LPT cable for this, and I wanted to be able to hide the entire cable inside the console so that it still looks stock. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

The cable is made from a PlayStation2 controller extension cable and the resistors, db25 hood and db25 connector all came from RadioShack for about $5.

Finally! It is starting to feel just like the XBOX1 days all over again! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What do you think? (sorry about quality, pics were taken with a BlackBerry Curve...)

i been at work trying to dig up any cable i can use.  I thought of the cat5 method like shroom too because its the smallest and cheapest.  i was asking on another thread if i could use cat5 because i was scared that the wires were too small; but this cleared things up.

i might even use 2 usb cables.

nice work guys, cant wait for the 360 to have functionality of the old xbox.   pop.gif

well its been awhile now since my OP and was wondering if launching games via hdd is a stable and viable solution without issue? without disk in tray?
back when i did this mod all we could do is stare at a blue screen and retrieve cpu key, key vault info.

Please share any latest and greatest tutorials, perhaps i'll drag out me cat5.
thx.

really have you not read anything lately? how can you not have bothered to read a few threads?

You seem like a capable guy having done this, so why would you need to ask this question???

......

get Freeboot and run your games off any usb drive biggrin.gif or XBReboot.. or any size hdd you want

yeah, i check the front page weekly and yes I have read a few threads regarding the apps you speak of.
My question was "are they stable yet?"... or should i wait for a better/future build?

I figured since I already had an existing thread here in the technical area of xs...I was much more likely to have my question answered by an educated audience as opposed to creating yet another thread in other areas of this forum and being mislead.

I'm terribly sorry if i pissed you off  tongue.gif
thx.
