Title: Hitachi Wont Go Into Mode B
Post by: rayo1927 on December 06, 2007, 05:32:00 AM
I am having a nightmare time trying to get my drive into mode B.

I have SLAX 2.1 and when the xbox is hooked up to my pc and i power them both on together, slax goes through its thing and eventually gets to the login prompt.
But no change in the drive.
My onboard sata is VIA 8237R and it is set to IDE in my bios.

Will using an older version of slax work any better?

Also when is the best time to power on both pc and xbox?

Thanks alot.

Try to power on the 360 when you see the slax cloverleaf logo. Your sata chipset may be incompatible. Mine worked with an nforce3. I also had trouble when it said "spinning up disc..." I had to eject the hitachi drive. But you don't seem to be having that problem.

So when you get to the slax login prompt the drive does not take two button presses to eject/close?

Check what version of hitachi you're trying to flash, remember that with the 79 model you won't anywhere without a passkey.

try the first slax v1.1 I think or 2.0 for the early hitachi 47DJ and so on up until the 78fk
Also power on the 360 first then power on your pc that usually works for me
