Who knows how it's fairing up to the original xbox, but the xbox 360 is turning out well, and just recently, some people found out that you can run older kernels on an xbox 360 with blown eFuses.
Read more on that here.
The xbox 360 is most definately more difficult than the xbox, most everything is married to eachother with keys, and hacking it at the moment without kernel 4532 or 4548 requires those keys(CPU key).
Cheers.

Well obviously the Xbox was much easier to hack; it was fully blown in no less than 6 months!
As for Xbox 360, nearly 2 years later, we only really have 1 full blown mod: the hacked DVD firmwares and various DVD mod chips (such as Xeno or NME).
Something interesting that not too many people know: if it wasn't for us hacking the Xbox bios instead of going the DVD firmware route, we might not be able to mod the 360 DVD firmware today. I guess MS didn't realize that the firmware was pretty easily exploitable, probably because we nearly abandoned that mod for the original Xbox because rewriting the bios was so much better and easier because of the fact that the internal hard drive allowed for playing games without a disc! (b/c they were saved to the HD)
