I'm not an expert at this stuff, but I have managed to flash my firmware and make successful backups...so my final mission is to be able to close the case back up and never have to reopen it. For this, I bought the Xecuter Connectivity kit (that's what it's for...I think?). I have looked around and been unable to figure out how to put it together. There is one piece that obviously connects the Xbox HD to a PC via the SATA connection. The other piece appears to be a power converter that converts the power for the XBox's dvd drive to a standard 4-pin Molex. Anyway, I'm not sure how to mount that or where exactly it goes. Also, I'm a little confused at the purpose of this. I need to be able to somehow get a SATA port to the outside of the case to plug it into my computer whenever I need to make a backup and this appears to power the dvd drive but not provide an eSATA connection. I hope I'm just missing something here. Can someone explain this to me or point me in the direction of a good tutorial? Thanks.
Also, one other question...I believe I have something like v1.2 of the firmware...along with my orig.bin on a memory stick that I would rather not touch unless there's a reason. Everything works fine...is there some benefit to upgrading to a newer firmware (v. 3)? Thanks.

The Connectivity Kit is used for putting the Hitachi drive in modeb so it can be detected in Windows. So that you don't have t open the case to flash it everytime, you need to extend the SATA connection from the drive to the outside of the case. There's no definite way of doing this but there's a few topics in this forums where people are showcasing how they achieved what you want. Mostly, it invovles carving a hole in the side of your 360 case to allow easy access.
There's stealth firmware available for the Hitachi and the latest Samsung firmware allows stealth backups. I would flash to the latest (just my opinion).

Thanks for the info...as for running the SATA to the side of the case, I wouldn't mind putting some effort into it if the results are good. Does this involve (not even sure if this is possible) some type of splitter so that the drive can remain plugged in? I will look around, but if you know off hand, I'd appreciate it. Also, what's the deal with stealth backups? Never heard of them. Does that have something to do with playing backups on XBLive? Thanks.

Yeah, most of the ones I've seen have the SATA cable extended to the side of the case (but still plugged in to the 360 so it must be some kind of splitter) so it can be easily connected to the PC without pulling it apart.
Stealth backups - makes the backup look exactly like an original game (involves obtaining the pfi.bin and dmi.bin along with ss.bin to create the game image - tutorials in Xtreme3.0 firmware package)
Stealth firmware - makes the modded firmware look like the original firmware
