Then agian i boot in dos and flashed the drive with my new bin(everything was goin to plan so far). Then i got my 360 tookit to my tv and set it up wanting to see if it booted ok etc,and it did.So then i took a orignal game of ghost recon put it in the drive and i got the message PLease put this disk in an xbox 360:SH$T FLAP O NO!!!
so back to the pc and i flashed my drive with my orig.bin and everything is fine and back to square 1, games work etc!
anybody had this problem or know what ive done wrong here?

skunk, i too ran into this problem across 2 360's that did this using KDX.  i manually copied and pasted the key using Hexedit and that fixed the problem.

just in case you dont know how...

1. open ORIG.BIN (whatever u named the original firmware) with Hexedit
2. scroll down to line 4000
3. copy lines 4000-4200
4. now open XTREME.BIN and paste to line 4000-4200
5. save modified bin to floppy (make sure u add .bin to the file name)
6. reflash and it should work.

I backed up my copy of Fight Night 3. I added the SS patch from the .rar release pack.  I then modified the game.dvd file with notepad, leaving just the "image.000" text, and putting the numbers into DVD Decrypter.  Finally got DVD Decrypter to recognize the edited .dvd file, and went to burn.  At 54% I got a writing error: saying that I could not write to the specified sector (or something to that effect).

I have an HP640C DVD-Burner, and I even updated the firmware from a link included in one of these tutorials to the JS04 firmware.

I think my problem may lie in setting the booktype to DVD-ROM... which I tried to do with DVDInfoPro, but the version I get off of their site has different menus than what the tutorials show (as usual...).
I set the booktype in DVD Decrypter... I even tried to backup my copy of Blazing Angels with Clone CD (making my own SS file following the tutorials and injecting it, but it comes up as "Unrecognized Disc" in my 360 after flashing the DVD Drive with the modified.bin-  probably because of the booktype crap).

Also, my 360 won't play Originals with the modified.bin on the DVD drive... it says "Please put this disc in a Xbox360 system" (or something like that).

PLEASE HELP! Any info will be appreciated.

it will not work bc you flashed your system wrong, reflash it correctly for them to work

According to Videohelp.com (link below) the 640'E' has bitsetting, no listing for the 640'C'. you could try the afterdawn forums for dvd questions as well.  They're at forums.afterdawn.com.

Hope this helps.   smile.gif

How do you mean I flashed the system wrong... and how would I flash it correctly?
I took the xtreme.bin, took the info from my original.bin (lines 4000-4200) and inserted them into the new modified_xtreme.bin, and flashed that as my firmware to read backups.

Thanx Hawke12 & monkeyflungpoo for the info... I'll try and re-read AGAIN, and research some more. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Quick Question:
Should my modified firmware to play backups also play Originals?

Yes. The modified firmware should play both.  From the sounds of what you say, it sounds like a classic case of not pasting in your key properly.  As a test, if you cannot play originals with the modified FW, then you have done something incorrectly.  It may be the tool you are using and the copy/pasting.  I use Hex Editor 3.1.2 by HHD.  I have done 5 drives now and it has worked flawlessly each time.

I had the same problem. As mentioned seems like you might have copyed the key incorrectly from your orig.bin to the xtreme bin.I flashed my orig.bin back after getting the Please Give Me A Heart Attack message just to see if my box was fooked or not last night and then tried agian knowing that it was a key issue.I used this hex editor and just copied and pasted the key over.

Preciate it, Calvin & Skunk...
I am at work now, pulling my hair out until I get off, so I can go home and try it.
Hopefully it is just the copy and pasting... sounds good enough... I'll let everyone know.

Thanks... (only 1 hour, 10 minutes left til I'm off.... not counting or anything...)
