team xecuter doesnt think its useless.
-
they took it out of context.
what was actually said on XBH is that the hack in its current state is useless.
when someone develops a pc app that lets you dump/patch/flash the FW it will become very userfriendly
-
They also left out the fact that at this point a specific key has to be flashed for each individual game for the hacked firmware to work. So basically, you could play a backup DOA 4 and then you would have to flash the drive again to play PGR3.

THIS IS THE MOST RETARTED STATMENT!!! What do you think the flash the firmware everytime. The is No specific Key they put in for each game to over write the protection each time.. Its a general, every disc returns 360DVD.
Thats like saying a Key Gen will work the 5th generate with the 3rd intall of the program..
No it works everytime b/c it matches the alygorthim.
Where do these people get these ideas from..
I read that shout this morning, and thought to myslef someone is going threw some trouble to get this hack dis-provded before it even hits the usual places...

bullshit. TS already stated that the latest version of the hack they have running is generic and works with any game thats formated properly.
-
yep, that article was lame! Ground breaking news over there @ shoutwire.com, lol
I can't wait for this hack to be public just so all this speculation and crap will blow over. So much misinformation out there these last 2 weeks.

And lastly this hack would not allow cheaters to alter game content to cheat on XBL because anychange in the game content would cause the game disc to fail authentication because it would break the signature with in the .xex file. Remember the core security of the xbox 360 has not be hacked so unsigned code will not run on a dvd firmware hacked xbox 360.
Changin any game content (apart from the xex) does not break the xex's sig. Meaning you can probably edit lots of files within games as long as they aren't checksummed by anything.
-
Propably you'll get forced one time to let them check your FW on your DVD-Drive with every update...
-
Imagine if MS can't do anything about this and they just get thousands of XBL cheaters......they would be banning L&R.
-
Bring on the map hacks in halo 2
Bye Live.

To say that the only benefit of the dvd firmware hack is "pirated games" is ignoring another real benefit that this hack gives us gamers. This other benefit is the ability to play a copy of retail purchased game. This would keep our purchased games from getting scratched, warped, lost, stolen and stepped on. This is a very real benefit for many gamers.
-
Everytime a topic like this is started someone comes on here and says the only reason for this hack is to play pirated games. Then someone comes back and says its to allow backups of purchased games. Why can't you fricking people come to terms with the fact that alot of people use it to pirate games, but there are also a lot of people that use it to backup their purchased games.
If you think about it, its still alot of work to get it to work. You have to open your 360, take the dvd drive out, hook your dvd drive up to your computer, find your special dvd drive key, flash your drive with the new firmware. Don't you still have to patch the games too just to get them to run?
With all that work required I'm thinking that the modchip for the original xbox cause a lot more piracy.
-
well thanks to my modded xbox i not only buy more games, but yes i take apart reverse engineer and dissamble them so i can cheat.very simple and most all games on xbox can be ripped wide apart(functions that is) with certain 4-8 byte equations of code.if this hack becomes public thers no doubht ill try to edit game files from anygame i have or can get ahold of.i do plan to use a fire rate hack a few times(or really wahtever else i can make),but after the first day ill play without cheats
i also might major in computer science so i can either join a developement team in some way of actually creating the engine of a game or i would like to become a level designer
all this from my modded xbox lol
so i didnt just pirate games like so many think.
i just wanted to add too the only files that were signed in original xbox games and content where the xbe and the contentmeta(thank you sdk agian for helping me burn back-ups that work on live)
so if anybody wants to(and has the knowledge of c+ and variation)go find some semi recent xbox sdk kit in the usual places and use the xbe programs in vb it comes with, once u have the sdk youll now the programs
im talking about i dont wana spout off the names here

Yeah and how do you pass the hardware checks to run the back ups and still not get banned on live.
Don't matter how much you mod the game contents you ain't booting it on live iwthout some sort of mod to the box. Boot the box modded on live and lose the live account.
You are the worst type of cheater, someone who thinks it makes them appear clever to brag about cheating on live
-
:offtopic: <- sorry
But does anybody think M$ have there own team of people trying to hack the 360 before the mod scene does so they can patch it up with releases through xbl? And i know not all people are connected to XBL but i bet the majority of people are!
Just curious as to what you think...

Personally, I'm not too interested in all of this anyway, I don't have too much free time to play 360 games right now anyway, and most of those that have been released have been total crap.
And yet you somehow found some time in your busy schedule to share us all this information
-
Who cares. Why don't you just go out and buy the games like other people. This "hack" is just so people can PIRATE games. I can say that here, right? PIRATED GAMES

Very funny.
No, I just have a general interest in these things. There really is no reason to flame like that though.
-
i'd scarfice my xbox live for homebrew
-
hmm....yawn
yet again another thread slowly descends into a few people arguing that their console is somwhow on a higher morale ground than someone else's console. Im sure if Bill Gates knocked on my door he'd be fine with me hacking the ass out of his console cos i only wanna use it as a home theatre. Maybe not.
Honestly guys, i dont mean to winge, flame or whatever you may call it, but this is all getting tired. Bring back the days when we all knew what we were doing with our consloes but had the etiquette and sense not to tell the world. It truly is ruining the scene and I can understand certain groups reluctance to make too much public cos their ass will get hung out to dry.
I dont know shit about half the stuff some people know on here, but used to follow it all with interest daily and managed to do a few boxes and have a set up for me and a few friends which suits our needs perfectly, be it gaming, home theatre whatever. Nowadays I probably only come in here just once a week if that 'cos i cant bare all the flaming, people ripping people to bits when they post some info, and people trying to hurry people along with development. It all used to be a bit of a community now its more like a nursery playground and its killing the scene it really is.
Anyway, it seems i got out of bed the wrong side this morning so bye for now. I will no doubt return one day to see all the flaming and ripping of my post, but if you must at least make it amusing! ;-)
