Title: Rc4 Keys
Post by: crimethink on February 13, 2006, 04:09:00 PM
I don't think they are the same.

I was thinking of something along these lines. If the original Xbox's key was cracked, you could run arbitrary code right?

Wrong sad.gif

I'm almost positive MS has a list of Xbox 1 games allowed to run. This is if the key is ever cracked, and lots of people say even with quantam computers, it'd takes millions of years to crack!

FYI - with quantum computers It could be done very fast! Quantum computers double the calculations each time, so 2, 4, 8, 16.. and in no time up to huuuge numbers. Anyway - we dont have a quantum computer biggrin.gif

I thought they would be the same because of the backward compatibility.

from what i have heard, the 360 uses its own emulator to play xbox 1 games, thats why only certain games are backwards compatible and you must have a hard drive to play them.  therefore, the keys probably wouldn't be the same for backwards compatibility reasons.  please correct me if i'm wrong or misinformed.
