| hmm, cant help you with the wires but this sounds like a nice mod, when your done your shoudl write a tutorial, lol |
yea, i started taking pictures... i know the wires connect to the front panel, (one of the yellow), but which ones
The keylock is a normal switch, so you can put it on one of the power lines that is connected to the power switch itself. The only way to do it would be to cut the trace that is on the front pc board going to the swtich and route the line from the solder joints before and after the trace. You can use a multimeter to determine which trace you need to cut.

hmm, then he shoudl be abe to put it on the yellow cable coming from the power/eject assembly, avoid cutting the trace
just need a pinout of the cable to know which wire to cut
You could use that providing that the traces going to the power switch are routed to the yellow wires directly. Which I think they are. THat would be a better option.

If you did this, you'd still be able to power on with the eject button.
I'd suggest you put the switch in-line with the POWON wire from the power supply. (i.e. I wouldn't put much current through the switch like hooking up directly to the 120VAC line).
Search is down, search for POWON and you'll probably find it.
Man you guys post fast... I just read your replies, and yeah, maybe one of the yellow front panel wires is the way to go.

yea, i want it so that noe power goes to the switch, meaning i have to put it on the yellow wires, but anyone got a labled picture. im going to start doing this in 2 hours because im installing a USB slo in my controler so i can use my 256mb flash drive. so i can get files off my comp to my xbox.
any pictures, and what YELLOW wires to connect?

o i forgot about that eject botton, if i run it thru the yellow wires, then wont the eject button still work, or maby put the switch on both so nonw get power.
now which points to soder
I think there is a wire that is on the main power supply feed to the motherboard that is contsantly on at 3.3v. This is what powers the buttons. So if you use that one it should work out fine. I think its orange. Double check.

what about that??????????
but i really want to got thru the yellow wites just because of the possable current, the seitch is like 30awg maby smaller
OR THAT
cuz thats more my cables, i have a version 1.4
are those from the XIR tutorial? i think those will just let you power on the xbox by turning the key, pretty cool effect, but not what you want to do

no those are for like remote power, but i found this pic

and i found those from a tut on XS
those are all for alternate power on switches
but, if you use the yellow wiere coming off that power on solder point it should work
and BTW, XIR = remote power, lol

lol, um yea that yellow onw shoulld be the power and where to connect the other wire. 2 wires come out of a switch red and black...
red to that point, and black to...........
plz someone makeshure thatpoint it right
Do you have a multimeter? If so, try testing all the yellow wires while turning the box on and off. If you don't then you can use a LED with a resistor soldered to it to see which lines are hot.

i might, lemt me check, but do u just check all the yellow wires?
is the power comming out 1 wire for the eject and power, because both have to be disabled.

no LED and i have a electric tester, will that work?

wont i have to clip the wires, cus then if i dont then its justed connected to the power but if clicped it stops current....
and i just looked t my box and the power fir the eject and the power are from 1 wire.
If it has a little wire comming off of it with an aligator clip and pointed screwdriver like body with light inside then yes. Just hook the aligator clip to any ground and touch the solder pads one at a time. If the light lites than there is power on that pad.

see the pic above the last 4 on the left light up.
starting from the left while the xbox is off,
1 says connection (probally ground cuz when i touch the clip and the point together it says connection)
2 has vontage
3 says connection
4 has vontage
and everything else nothing happens
Can you take it apart to see where the traces are running too? One of them has to be going to the power switch. But like the last guy said, what about the eject button? This may be a bit more complicated doing it this way. Try the 3.3v Stand by line. It won't fuck your board up, I would cut it, wire the switch in temporarily, try it and see what happens.

well yea but i think the eject button and the power are running off the same power line my box is open... i dont want to cunt anyting unless its the right wire...
Actually this may be quite easy.
Check the tutorial on the wireless remote on/off switch.
I'll bet you can merely tap the same lines to keep the Xbox OFF when the switch is in use.
the 1st 2 ren to the power and the next one are to the LED and the eject are to the last ones an the right side
AS WHAT I CAN SEE, BUT NOT 100% shure
http://www.xbox-scen...rticles/xir.php Thats the link, i if thats the power wire for both the eject and power then i know what to do otherwise im lost..
can anyone verify that is the power wire for the eject buttonand the power botton, if so ill i have to do is cut it and im homw free..
The power button pin is the second from the bottom on the front panel PCB.
Check out the site for the infrared mod:
XIR Site
i just cut it and the power button dose not work but the eject does.
now which wire is the power to the eject..
i just figured what 2 wires they are, now i got to think how to use 1 switch for 2 wires....
any ideas lem me know...
Lock

these are teh wires from the switch
what do u guys think will that work'
never mind i figured it out. ill be dont by tonight cuz im also doing a USB mod, then ill make a tut....
o, and i for got THANK YOU guys ofr all ur help.
this is why i love XBOX-SCENE, and the PEOPLE

Why not use the keylock on the d0 wire to your modchip (assuming you're using a modchip), then your brother could only get onto the Xbox with the chip off, and not do any damage to your modded sections, or accidentally go on Live or something, but he'll still be able to play your Xbox.
Unless you totally want to lock him out, in which case you need a keylock for your room, not your Xbox

Here's a cool idea; a tad late though

we share rooms, lol so i want to lock him out of it totaly so he dosent mess with anything it dosent have a mod chip, its TSOP, so i cant go live. at least for now....
im finaly done.... ill have pictures and a small tut, intell i have time, then ill submit it it the tut section.
its prety cool, i was trying to put a USB in mu controler and the dam soder dosent stick to the points. fucked up shit, so i put that aside and finished this...
now ill go and fix it. i put my Flash drive and the fucked XBOX formated it. i had hella important shit on that, and then i tried to put it in my computer and it formated it back. its like both are on a different system.

Nothing beats regular beatings of siblings

As for the Flash drive; yes, they use different file systems, and the Xbox automatically formats any new USB drives, because memory cards are USB drives, and after all; who'd try and hook up their flash drive to an Xbox?
...well, apart from the modding community
