ModWhiz is currently no longer a sponsor and any ads are currently pulled from XS.

I recommend that people do not hesitate to do the following (assuming you have any outstanding issues with them..)

Send them Email, Call them, etc.. and attempt yet again to get some answers..

Contact your CC company or Paypal. Reverse those charges.. do not wait one more day. Sometimes Time is important.. sooner the better..

And possibly, contact your local authorites. Maybe the authorities of the shop in question as well. Fruad is a big deal. Fruad using the internet is no less a crime.

We don'thave all the facts as of yet.. but since they haven't been forthcoming with answers.. these is how we're forced to brand them.

I hope people get the satisfaction they deserve. No one deserves to get ripped off.

I'll kick this thread off with my overwhelmingly positive experience. I ordered my Xenium modchip on Jan. 17th because my other one on order from divineo.net hadn't come for almost a month and I needed one before my christmas break ended. Needless to say, I wanted it fast. Unfortunately there was no shipping options, although I think the one they used is actually Next Day.  I got a Paypal receipt immediately but nothing else. The following day I emailed their sales department asking if they got my order, and promptly -- within a few hours -- recieved a reply saying that they did, and that my paypal reciept was my order confirmation. They said that I would get a tracking number and that the product would ship on monday. Monday came and went without a tracking number. That night at midnight-ish I was on the Xenium forum of this website and came across a thread titled "I ordered from Modwhiz.com.... was that bad idea" or something like that. Intrigued I went to it, and found the owner/operator/something of modwhiz.com posting and answering questions. He had said earlier that day that the person who started the thread should get his tracking number that day. I was relieved the store wasn't a scam, but still uncomfortable that my chip was supposed to come the next day, but I still hadn't had a tracking number. The next morning, though, at 10:00ish I think, my modchip arrived. Later that afternoon I got a tracking number... It turns out they had problems with FedEx, so that through a monkey-wrench into the plan, but they managed to ship it out with some other carrier, and got it to me in the same time. I'm very pleased with their fast response to the problem since I did pay for what I thought was next day.

So in conclusion: Excellent response time to emails, active on the scene, kept promises made on website, modchip in 2.5 days beginning to end. Highly recommended! 10/10

I've never experienced customer service even near this good from any MOD chip retailer (and I've delt with a few). I ordered Xenium lateSunday night, they were in my hands and being installed today (Wednsday). Unbelievable, my e-mails for support were answered extreamly quickly, it was more like instant messaging than e-mail.
They were professionally packaged in Cardboard then bubblewrap and then individually wrapped in a sealed static proof bag.
Trust me, this is the place to buy the Xenium's. Keep up the good work ModWhiz!
I just hope the customer service and care stays this good with all the new business.

after searching all over the place for a chameleon solderless adapter and xenium combo, I finally found one (or they found me on a forum post) and decided to buy it cause i just couldn:t wait to mod my x... you really can:t go wrong with these guys... they are an official reseller on the ozxodus site, they ship out and give you the CORRECT date of arrival (took exactly 16 hours to get to my door COD!), and great... I mean GREAT... service... they are all around nice guys (or guy... or girl, who knows)...

If you wanna buy a xenium or anything... buy it from these guys... they know what they are doin... especially if you live in canada... ask for the deal eh!   THanks guys...

This store is AWESOME!!!! First of all they were one of the few places where i could find an Xenium and solderless adapt. Well anyway i ordered my chip and stuff with my debit card and the last check out screen didn't show up(said there was an error or something). So I was all nervous, then i checked the amount of money on my card and it said that the price of the stuff i bought had been deducted. So then i went on the IRC and talked to support. The guy I talked to was very helpful and said i should recieve a confirmation email a few hours after i order. Well sure enough an hour after i ordered i got the confirmation mail. I was all happy. Then a day went buy ( i got next day shipping) and i was supposed to have my tracking number. Well i never got it. But today right on time my chip came with everything i ordered. These guys are the best. I will gladly do business with them again!!! :D   <

Outstanding service!!!

I ordered my Xenium at 1pm, had it in my hands by 11am the next day!

Also, about an hour after I placed the order, I wanted to add the solderless adapter to it, but I couldn't get through on their phone system.  They happened to be sitting in IRC in the #ozxodus forum, heard my plight, answered and shipped the adapter to me with free shipping!

I would highly recommend modwhiz.com for all your mod-chip needs.  Very trustworthy, very reliable customer service, great prices, great shipping...

Thanks guys for all the kind words again!

For our international customers, we have now added very competitive Express Air shipping rates as follows:

Europe $15 US

Rest of World $19 US

This applies to all normal orders, no premods.

Please note this shipping is done through UPS/FedEX/DHL and comes with a very accurate tracking number/system allowing you to track your packages in real time!

No postal mail with crappy tracking system and lost packages.

European orders are normally there within 2 days and rest of world approximately 3-4 days.

Thanks alot!

We just underwent some server changes/upgrades over the last couple weekends so that may be why your email didn't get answered, I apologize.

We're also re-organizing ModWhiz.com and setting up a automated shipping system which will allow everyone to look up their orders status instantly, should be available in the coming weeks.

I ordered mine the 8th (after 3pm so they didn't get the order till the 9th) and received it yesterday, 15th.  They got it to me with in their 2-5 business day window.  I can't say their customer service is great right now but they delivered to me as promised.  They aren't trying to rip people off.  I plan to install tonight, wish me luck.

My advice to customers is to use every avenue you can (IRC, phone, email, msn messenger, forums) to contact them and eventually they will respond.  I think they are overwhelmed currently because of their email outage situation, but will resolve issues as fast as they can.

My advice to ModWhiz is to have some sort of communication readily available to the customers.  I know I wouldn't mind delays or mix-ups as much as long as I know what's going on and have some contact with the dealer.  Being able to talk with someone in customer service is comforting.  It's when you can't get a hold of someone you get frustrated and start to panic that you might not get your order.

Thanks Modwhiz for a timely delivery.

Copy and paste of post from ozxodus.com as it is very relevant here...

Im glad we're getting everything sorted out...

If anyone has any issues your more then welcome to PM me!

Also, after this entire FIASCO, we're working on setting up a dedicated sales/shipping phone line.

This will help us avoid these issues by offering everyone a fast/easy way to contact us immediately.

It will be a great backup in case we ever have email troubles again!

Glad everything went well...

Our Sales & Shipping phone line should be up this week.

Unfortunately, support / technical related issues will have to be delt through the [email protected] email as it would be very difficult to handle over the phone.

We're also looking at a possible toll free 1-800 number, but that maybe a little later.

I have to say that as of right now I am pretty dissapointed with ModWhiz. I ordered an Xenium with the Official no solder adapter on Friday at around 12:00pm EST, and I have yet to recieve my chip. The delay would be no problem, but I did pay $15.00 for overnight shipping and the website led me to believe that at the latest it would be shipped Monday before 2:00pm EST; not to mention it is pretty hard to get ahold of these guys. After two pm's and about three emails I finally got a fedex tracking number from the [email protected] address, but the number is invalid, (or the package has not been shipped).
I've read many good reviews about modwhiz, so I hope everything will be sorted out. I would however like to get a clear explanation about the delays, and reimbersment for the shipping charges.

UPDATE: JULY 6th -

I was able to catch up to ModWhiz on the IRC channel #ozXodus ... it seems that he has been buried under a pile of work.
no matter the reason, I am more satisfied than I was previously. He gave me the tracking # I was so anxious to get. I realize that he's not a machine, but next time I will be more careful to order at a slower time of the year  jester.gif

I'm having the same experience as you two.  Ordered on June 30th.  Got my order number but no chip.  I had to cancel my order at Divineo.com and through the posts on this thread I re-ordered from Modwhiz.  They had overall good reviews up week until the past or so.  What is going on over there?

All I want is my chip and no one seems to want me to have one.  My money IS good you know.

I'll reply with any further progress (if any is seen).

Hey guys,

Unfortunately it was the first time we ever did a pre-order sale and we have learned valuable lessons from it!

ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE AND DONT RUSH!!!!

LOL

Well anyways, almost all the packages are gone, except for a few that were misplaced during the shipping process which went out today.

All our emails are being answered as I type this but myself & the second modwhiz employee so we should be up to date shortly.

I apologize again for the delays, everything should already be back into place or will be very very shortly.

As for the shipping, please do understand we got our ICE chips with solderless last Wedsnday (June 30th) and started shipping the same day. The ICE chips alone came in on Friday, so those orders went out either Friday or Monday.

Also, please factor in the Canadian (July 1st) & US hollidays (July 4th) and this pretty much set back Canadian orders by 1 day and all US orders by 2 days.

So considering we were on schedule as per our site (Week of June 28th) we did do our best to get them to everyone as fast as possible, which did backfire a little on us on a small amount of orders.

If anyone has not been taken care of, most have, please either email [email protected] , or on irc in #modwhiz or #ozxodus PM "ModWhiz" or alternatively MSN via [email protected]

Again we apologize and thank you for your patience,

ModWhiz.com Staff!

PS: The phone sales/shipping info line we promised should be open Monday!!!!

The false advertising claim above, obviously shows that  "sha" either does not know how to calculate at a grade 3 level or is simply a competitor tring to create problems.

25 pieces of Xenium Solderless retail at $59.95 each.

$59.95 * 25 = $1498.75

$1498.75 - 250.00(discount) = $1248.75

Wait a second!!!! What does our site say?

Yes, thats right $1248.75

Right, false advertising at is best... NOT.

I've received my 2 ICE's I've ordered from ModWhiz.

I've been having some problems in the beginning. Especially via email. However, I have to say that once I contated ModWhiz via IRC, all was straitend out. I changed my order from 1 normal solderless Xenium to 2 ICE solderless. He shipped them the 6th. Talked to ModWhiz on IRC the 7th and received my tracking number. the 8th, I received my package. Keep in mind, that I live in Europe, and shipping usually takes up to 5-8 days.

I'm very pleased with the way ModWhiz handled my order, but I do have to say that reaching him on IRC goes way faster then trying via email. ModWhiz allways hangs out in #OzXodus or in #ModWhiz on EFNet. Try it.

The next orders I place will also be with ModWhiz, count on that.

sha, unfortunately you caught me at a VERY bad time in the middle of pre-orders and I was stressed.

Anyway, you are somehwat RIGHT but still wrong.

The site clearly indicates the following:

25 Pack of Xenium ICE Mod Chips @ $1023.75
Save $225.00

When you click on the order button in the cart it shows:

25 Pack of Xenium ICE Special Edition Chip & No Solder Adapter - Save $250

Obviosuly, we are not charging more then indicated, our webmaster made an error on the links... and it was charging for the solderless version of the 25 pack.

Mistakes happen.

You simply outright accused us of false advertsing, which got me upset.

WE DID NOT FALSELY ADVERTISE.

It clearly shows you were paying for the other solderless combo's, it was a mistake which happens, but claiming flase advertising is pushing it.

Eiter way, we were under the impression that you wanted the solderless.

The reason they are cheaper then the OzXodus price is the volume discount we offer as per other official distributors.

Anyways feel free to contact me via PM if you wish and I can rectify this for you ASAP.

I pre-ordered a mod chip from modwhiz and after they did not reply to my e-mails within the 24 hour timeframe I was a little worried. It was about the time I was getting worried that my chip showed up at my door. I was surprised and impressed at the same time. A few days later I recieved an e-mail from modwhiz stating my tracking number and other vital information, as well as stating that modwhiz was backed up with numerous ice orders that they couldnt get to them all at once. Overall, I am quite satisfied with their services and I ordered another Xenium ice chip from them today, and will continue to do so in the future.

Thought I'd post here because I am not getting any responce via e-mail from their shipping department.

I ordered my Xenium Ice combo on the 14th and used the 2-5 day shipping option.  Soon after I requested a tracking number; the tracking number came quickly, but it's (hopefully) incorrect: it shows it being shipped to California instead of Utah.

I e-mailed their shipping department again asking what's going on and where my mod chips are, it's been over a week since I ordered and I'm on a deadline to get it installed for a client of mine.

Order Number: 830107452

I had a fairly good experience with ModWhiz.com, due too the fact im in Australia i assumed it would take ages too get here however i was pleasently surprised, i ordered from them Friday night @ 10pm and it arrived here on Monday @ 2:55pm(I wasn't home, Yay for UPS Note, and got it Tuesday!), Which is fucking incredibly fast shipping, from Canada to Australia bypassing hawaii!! The product came decently packaged in a UPS Pad Pak and is an Authentic Xenium, but im yet too check if its in working order as of yet.

The only bad experience i had with the site is Contact, i messaged ModWhiz on IRC/MSN/EMAIL a total amount of say 15 times, and got 3 responses, with 1 being a really slow email. That being that i asked for a tracking number 2 hours after i purchased it and got it 28 hours later (Due too what ModWhiz say, claiming emails are backed up). So that was ironic. Another annoyance i had, small as it was, is a Confirmation Email, you recieve a email from there CC Verifier, but not till the Verifier, Verifies your account. A simple email from ModWhiz after completing the form, informing you, that you should recieve Payment notification within the next business day, would be GREAT.

But all in all the experience was great, if they could improve the customer service, through email/msn/irc it would be great, especially for international customers who can't call the toll free number internationally. If your looking for a company dealing in Original Xeniums and fast as hell shipping, ModWhiz.com is your choice.

Once i finally got it sorted
The shipping side was great it actually got shipped out the same day i ordered(US.Thursday) and was in my hands in Qld Australia(US Monday)That was also with UPS sending it to the wrong city to begin with(Sydney instead of Brisbane).

So as long as these people do make an attempt to iron out their communication side they'd be fine to deal with.
They've now got a ph no up on their site too which was'nt there when i was having trouble so hopefully they've heard what the herd thinks of no contact and addressed it....

Order ID 4772169

I am very displeased with the customer service.

I ordered a Xenium around 6 weeks ago. As far as I know, shipments made overseas are done through UPS. I do have an issue which is the origin of the problem, it is the fact that I reside in an Army post and UPS has always had trouble delivering mail to the army's mail system.

This part, is of course under no control of Modwhiz, and it is understandable. Supposedly, UPS sent the item back to the sender.

However, what has me so upset, and has  given me such a bad impression of lack of profesionnalism and lack of ethics in this company, is the fact that I've written a couple of emails to the shipping department letting them know of the issue and asking for guidance and information regarding my problem.

No answer has been given up to date, other than the automated reply which states that I should be contacted within 24 hours after my email had been sent. Which of course, made it worse, since it seemed like nothing by mockery, given that, of course, my credit card was charged pretty much as soon as I placed the order.

I am willing to spend more of my time trying to solve the issue if anyone here is willing to do the same thing.

Looks like my story is similar to others. I ordered a pre-moded XBOX from their site and its been over 48 hours now. I sent them a couple of emails requesting the tracking number, but no response. called the phone number to get a status update, but the message says "we will be returning on August 2nd" - its the 4th today. I paid a lot for overnight delivery but they should have stated "it will be shipped overnight when it is ready to be shipped".

Has anyone else bought a premoded system from these guys? Any experiences opinions?

Hi All..

Very mixed reviews from me...

On one hand, The xbox w/ premod I order works well,

but I paid for a new xbox, not a refurb (in refurb box, looks fine, but definetely used)

I was expecting a brand new xbox like the site says:

ModWhiz now carries pre-mods! Due to the overwhelming demand we are now shipping brand new XBOX consoles with Xenium chips installed. This is the perfect solution for people wanting to avoid any installation problems and potentially damaging their XBOX. Let one of our qualified technicians do the work and get your XBOX at your door ready to go!

http://www.modwhiz.com/xbox_xenium.php

Its a 2002 xbox, with an old controller and a non-working video cable (using my brothers at the moment)

I will be calling them to work something out today... I will post any relevant information.

For 300 (after shipping) I am definetely disappointed.

Horrible expierance!!!

Order ID:     5125764
Date:         Wednesday, July 28, 2004.

I placed the order and didn't worry about it.  I figured professionalism would prevail and that it would actually get shipped.  I attempted to contact him on Friday the 30th and got the automatic reply.  Tried again Monday the 2nd via Email, PM and Phone.

Email just got the automated response except for a few times that said he would check... no reply... then one saying email [email protected] or call sales at the number given... keep in mind I have called this number (non toll free) THREE times and left messages THREE times.

The PM's I've sent of course get unanswered so I'm not even bothering with that anymore.

Phone??? He still has a message saying he'll be out the 30th of July and it's the freakin 5th of August.  If he hasn't had 'time' to change his frontline phone message then I'm sure he hasn't had time to send the damn thing.

As of last night I emailed him to cancel my order.  I checked with my Credit Card company and it's showing as a 'pending' payment.  Which basically means they checked to make sure I had the available credit but haven't charged me.  Which to me means they haven't charged me because they haven't sent the damn thing over a week later.

I'm extremely disappointed and I wish I would of read and noted everyone elses complaints.  It seems to be a hit or miss operation with no consistancy.  Sometimes they're fast and apparently sometimes their slow.  As a consumer I would rather take the safe road then deal with a reseller who will give me a 50-50 chance on having the product delivered in a timing manner.

In closing I wouldn't recommend this reseller to anyone.  To any Fanboi of Modwhiz keep in mind this was my expierance and that's what I'm posting on.  This was no fault of mine.  I submitted my correct address, correct card #, I had available credit, I attempted to contact numerous times.   I really wish I could go back and order from someone, anyone else.    [email protected] if anyone has any further questions, unlike Modwhiz I'll respond to your email.

Yeah they were having problems with their CC system.  I was trying to place a $500+ order with them but they didn't seem too interested in finding another way to take my money, so I hit up ** ABUSE **.  Hopefully their system is up and running again, they have great prices and their customer service seems decent but I wish they could be a little more flexible with payments.

I successfully placed an online order for (1) ICE/Solderless combo kit last Saturday, 10/02.  Got a payment confirmation through payzip.net within minutes.  I sent the shipping department @ Modwhiz (3) emails over the course of 5 days requesting a tracking # and have yet to receive a reply.  Right now, I'm not even 100% confident anyone is aware of my order except for the folks at payzip who have already taken the funds.  So far, not the best transaction, but given the numerous positive posts, I'll give Modwhiz the benefit of the doubt.  I'll edit this post once this transaction succeeds/fails.

EDIT:  Modwhiz came through in the end.  I received the chip within 6 days of ordering it.  My only comment is that with online purchases, the only thing to reassure customers that everything is in order is communicate with them.  I personally never received a single email from anyone but the 3rd party payment company.

Order ID: 20041020185531, Placed on 10/21/04 (Xenium Ice Solderless Combo)

I ordered the chip 7 days ago and still do not even have a tracking number.  I have e-mailed modwhiz.com's sales and shipping departments multiple times and have not gotten any responses.  The chip should be here by now as I chose 2-5 day shipping.  Instead, I don't even have any idea if my order has been processed.  The only thing I know is that Payzip has charged my credit card.  I am very dissatisfied with modwhiz  for their failure to respond to any of my multiple e-mails and more importantly, to deliver my purchase on time.  If I don't receive the chip by tomorrow night I plan to call Visa and dispute the charge.  Where the hell is my damn chip....am I being too rash?

mad.gif  with my shopping experience at Modwhiz.com. I placed my order last Tuesday night with overnight shipping, 7 days later I still haven't recieved my chip. I've sent three emails now to get a status of my order  with no response at all. The reason why I placed my order with them because they stated 24hr shipping time on the sits and because of the positive feedback on this forum... Guess I should have read all the posts. The least they can do is let me know what is going on, now I feel like I'm gettting ripped off.

To all ModWhiz.com Customers,

We would like to take a moment and let everyone what happened to ModWhiz.com in the last couple of months.

Unfortunately we ran into several major problems since the beginning of August 2004 and have had several customers who were left un-satisfied with our service.

In early August 2004 with no warning our credit card processor mypaysystems.com shut off hundreds of merchants accounts due to problems on their end with their acquiring bank leaving them with no way to accept payments & continue on with their business. Furthermore, payments were not disbursed and held back for the last couple of weeks of sales. To this day, almost 4 months later we still have not received the funds and have undertaken legal action to obtain the funds owed to us.

After the mypaysystems.com fiasco we decided to go with a new company offering similar services which turned out to be a nightmare. This company was located in Asia and assured us they could service us just as well as mypaysystems.com prior to their demise. Unfortunately, this was not the case and many orders that were processed through this new payment company were marked as refused/declined yet were paid. This led to several clients that were left in the dark by us because we had no access to our account after awhile. From what we have gathered from customers they did refund them and charged us according. These are mostly the clients that have had trouble in the last 6 weeks or so.

We have now switched over to a REAL full fledged merchant account with no companies in the middle handling our credit card processing as it is done securely on our own 128bit Secure Server (SSL) directly with our acquiring bank. This new gateway has been very good so far and we are very pleased.

We would like to extend a great thank you to all our loyal customers that have stood by us in this troublesome time.

For all customers who were un-intentionally harmed during this fiasco, we'd like to apologize and welcome you to contact our customer service department via the live help button on our web page or through email so we can make sure you were properly taken care of.

We have now opened our new warehouse/shipping location and are once again pleased to offer shipping in North America the same day (2pm EST. cutoff) and are offering our great overnight shipping at the standard $15.00 US rate to anywhere in North America and guarantee your shipment will be there the next day.

As always we thank you for your patience in these matters and hope to be of assistance in the near future.

Regards,

ModWhiz.com

I ordered a pre-modded Xbox from Modwiz. On the web page it say's that you get a brand new xbox never used or rebuilt.

Well the one I got was ver 1.0 and looked like it had been used for at least a year. Not to mention it came in a rebuilt box from MS.

False advertising and no return emails...

Sounds like this is now the norm for this group.

That's okay though, I have since ordered three new systems,

Friends relatives, and they all have come from BMMODS.com

Greetings Everyone,

I can see that you some of you seem a little upset.  I would like to apologize for any delays in shipping and answering emails.  If your problem still has not been addressed, please call the telephone number on the website and ask for Jeff, he will be glad to help you.

There is one thing I would like to add;

We have been in business for over a year now and have not burned anyone.  Every single one of our customers has received their orders.  There may be delays due to stock, email issues and mostly because of our past credit card processors who have burnt us for many thousands of dollars and forced us to re-organize our systems.  We are now back in business with a GOOD and proper processor, this combined with a new sales, shipping and customer service team.  These system changes will hopefully make our customers feel more confident in buying from ModWhiz.com

In order to give back to the Xbox modding community and to show how we are dedicated to customer service we are going to give you an EXTRA 5$ rebate on are already  VERY LOW price.

Just enter the following coupon code:

“Xenium” for regular a plain Xenium ICE
“XeniumS” for Solderless Xenium ICE

Yours truly,
ModWhiz

My first order was VERY fast.  Got my Xenium in 2 days so I thought I'd try ModWhiz again last week when I wanted a few more items. I ordered 6 days ago and emailed the shipping department for a tracking number 3 days ago. Haven't seen the package or any reply from my email.  Kinda sucks when you pay extra for overnight shipping and you can't even get a response from the shipping dept. Hopefully the package will show up soon or at least the shipping dept will let me know if there is hold up.

Order #619.

Ordered a new case and an extra LED on Feb 4th.  Paid extra for over night shipping. I've sent 3 or 4 emails asking about the status and haven't had any reply. I've called the number which appears to have been changed. Tried the IRC channel too with no luck. My first order (3 Ice chips) showed up in 2 days. I was amazed at the speed of delivery so I wanted to give them my business again. Looks like that was a bad idea. Hopefully my stuff will show up soon. If not I'll have to go through the hassle of getting the credit card charges reversed. I suggest shopping some where else until ModWhiz can get it together.

Order # 1065

I put an order in on 3/5/2005.  Unfortunately I ordered a sp adapter and an X3ce only to find out they are not compatible (misleading adv by xodus).  I sent emails to modwhiz asking to modify my order. I was happy to see them post in the teamxodus forum that they would be taking back the SP adapter and in fact setting aside orders that contained the adapter and a non-compatible chip (like mine). http://forums.xbox-s...pic=368770&st=0

However they said they would be contacting people on the weekend of the 12th/13th to fix orders. I was never contacted and nobody replied to any of my emails. Recently I have seen statements on their website like 'we recently moved to a new facility' and 'we are having technical problems with our phone lines'.  Neither of these statements are making me happy. I have already recieved the credit card bill with this charge on it, but I have yet to recieve my order or even a shipping number. Maybe time to call my credit card company and go with another vendor.

I will post follow ups if the situation warrants.

Order #1488.  I haven't received any word back now about a tracking number and I ordered back on the 25th.  Don't order from Modwhiz.  Their customer service is bullshit.

Well I ordered a Xenium S.P. Ice comba pack one week ago, and still haven't got it. I did the standard 2 -5 day shipping. They charged my credit card twice for one order, but this was resoved via my credit card company.  I never got a shipping tracking number, so the hell if I know, it could be at the bottom of the frickin ocean.  I tried their "live support chat", but no, everytime it says frickin "sorry, no operator is available"  I will try to e-mail them and ask them where the hell my chip is.  I've been waiting.  DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE.  THEY FLING SHIT FROM THEIR ASSES AND TURN IT INTO LIES IN THE FORM OF WORDS.  Customer contact is horrible, and shipping is slow as hell.  Screw these people.

After trying to contact these guys for weeks, they finally responded to one of my cancellation emails. Note this is after I disputed the charge with my credit card company. I don't know if they were contacted by the CC company or not, but coincidentally I finally receive a reply email saying I should see the credit on my statement in 24-48 hours. Here I am (over a month after order) 72 hours later and still no refund on my statement. Go figure.

Really you can't believe anything these people say.

The problems I had with the order was that I asked to recieve the console unopened with out a chip installed but left on the side,... it came with the xenium ice installed already.  I might have chipped the box myself at some point with the xenium (waiting for skryer) so thats not a big deal to me (although this immediately voided the warranty and ruined any collectors value it might have had).  I noticed that they also forgot to package and send the external led and usb adapter that come standard with a xenium ice purchase anywhere.  They sell the x-s-or-ease kit on they're site for $10.95, but I shouldn't have to purchase something that was already paid for with the modchip I recieved. grr.gif

I'm guessing from the above reviews that the only reason why I got this delivered promptly at all was because it was a high price item and i payed out the ass for overnight shipping. dry.gif

buyer beware, and shop modchipman.com tongue.gif

I did send a request for a tracking # via e-mail and am waiting to hear back. I did order overnight so the tracking # is just a way for me to double-verify my order. Hopefully I'll receive the item in the day or 2.

Order #1690 - Premod Xbox w/ Xenium ICE

Well, I placed my order on Friday, April 8 and got the e-mail notification early Saturday the 9th saying the order was processed. I put in the Notes section I wanted a tracking # e-mailed to me when available and I also e-mailed the sales department requesting the same. I've heard nothing in response. I'm fighting with myself to remain positive, but after paying for overnight shipping, $322 isn't cheap by any means. On Friday night, a few hours after I placed the order, I noticed I had a pending charge on my bank account for $322 to ModWhiz. I then checked my statement tonight, the 11th and there is no longer a pending charge nor was the money withdrawn. So, at least I'm not out the money...yet. Still it's disconcerning.

I noticed on the website it says premods take 24-48 hours to ship due to installation and testing. That's fine by me but what they don't tell you is WHEN the installation process begins. I'm going to e-mail the sales department to verify what's going on.

Order #1690

Still haven't received anything as far as shipping goes. I finally caught ModWhiz in IRC yesterday and he told me the night before they had finished doing the premods and they would ship yesterday. Alas, not a damn thing has happened. He keeps saying in IRC chat he's going to FedEx to drop shipments off but there are still people waiting for orders from about 2-3 weeks ago.

I don't know what to think at this point. Apparantly people are getting their stuff, even if it's a couple weeks wait. But, I didn't pay to wait a few weeks, it says on the website that premods ship in 24-48 hours and I paid for overnight delivery. So, make of that what you will.

Emailed them to have tracking number... No reply
Tried to call..... No answer... On IRC they told me  That I will get it soon that he was overloaded with orders...Still nothing....By looking at their phone number.. it looks like a Montreal Phone`s number... I live at 45 minutes away from there so I dont think its FedEx that is taking so long to deliver. So I dont know if there is any hope for me to get anything from Them...Im starting to get mad..

smile.gif After a few conversations with the guy on IRC, I was finally able to reach somebody through the website Customer Service yesterday. The operator was nice and told me that my order was ready to ship and even gave me the tracking number before FedEx got the package. I checked periodically throughout the night (luckily I work nights) and low and behold, I tracked my package from Canada all the way to California. I was rather surprised...and imagine my happiness when the FedEx dude rang my doorbell at 1015am (which the FedEx site said it would be delivered by 1030am).

Everything works perfectly, Xbox booted up on first push of the button. I really must give ModWhiz some credit and some much deserved thanks. Although the communication is SEVERLY lacking, especially via e-mail, and the processing of orders takes a week or so, in the end it is what I paid for. I seriously thought I was not going to get my order, period. The only complaint I have...and it is minor...is that I did not receive the 2 free retail games as advertised on the website (Top Spin and Amped 2). Other than that, everything is great.

I really hope ModWhiz is able to get a stable business going and maybe get some people behind him to help out with communication and processing. The guys in IRC were helpful, but they are mostly there for technical support. If any of you are still waiting on your order, I'd recommend trying to get in touch through IRC a few times and even the Customer Support on the site. I had the best luck reaching someone from about 11AM Pacific to 3PM Pacific (again, luckily I work nights).

Order #1617

Finally got my chip today.

Ordered April 4.  Modwhiz shipped it the 8th, which is pretty fast imo.  FedEx fumbled up the order, but it came today.  Was supposed to be here the 15th, but thats not modwhiz's fault.

Was packaged well.

I don't fault Modwhiz, but I'll never use them again due to the fact that they ONLY offer FedEx(maybe you can request different, but it was the only option on their website ordering form)  I would have never chosen that route and you can see why. <

This is my second order with ModWhiz.  Everything went perfectly- Was one of the unfortunate people that got delayed with the Xenium S.P.Ice preoders the first time.  But they honored the coupon that came with the order on my 2nd order.  I used FedEx Ground shipping, so it took a bit longer.  Received tracking number without asking.

Thanks ModWhiz!

Mod Whiz has the worst cutomer service ever.  I spoke with a manager at least three times.  First they confirmed cancellation of my order, yet billed/sent the product to me anyways.  After I tried to get the information to return the product they did not reply for a week.  When I finally was able to get a support ticket open a month ago, I still have not recieved any reply on how to return the item.  They are very SHADY.

Order #2448 - Ripped off.

Thursday afternoon (around 12 noon) I ordered my chip, and paid 18 dollars to have it overnighted.  FedEx says they got the package data at 12:26 PM.  For some reason, the package isn't picked up until the next day at 4:11 PM.  So much for overnight.

I then notice that FedEx was not paid to deliver it Overnight.  They were paid for "Priority Envelope."  I look at my bill...it still says overnight, and I'm still charged 18 dollars.

I e-mail modwhiz Friday at about 8pm, seeing that my package had not being overnighted, I ask for a refund.

I got my chip this morning, 4 days after I ordered it , even after paying for overnight shipping.  I have yet to hear back from modwhiz about refunding my shipping.

You can mark me down as an unhappy customer.  If you can't supply a service, don't offer it. <

Modwhiz, maybe you can answer these questions for me. If not, anyone else.

I'm thinking of buying one for a variety of reasons. However, I know nothing about mod chips so I'm going to get a pre-mod.

I'm considering buying from the aforementioned site after doing some shopping around, but the thing is I want to know what it is that I'm getting. Below is the X Box I was going to get:

http://www.modwhiz.com/store/cart.php?

I'm not sure what a VGA Box is. Do I need it to backup my XBox games to the hard drive? Also, will I be able to install skins and all that to play on games (or any other games) using this mod chip? Anyone that knows would be of help.

Below is the site and where I place what I want on the XBox. If anyone can add anything that they think I need or can answer any of my questions (can I save my games to the hd with this modded x box, use skins/files/etc., and play pal, japanese and euro games) I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Been waiting for a week for these and now I have to ship them back to Canada and will be waiting for another 2 weeks min for them to get back to me. Wish they would double check orders before they ship out.  I have tried to contact them via live chat and phone with no luck. Not very happy at all.

Like other recent reviews, my experience with ModWhiz is somewhat mixed.
Order processing was relatively fast, though not as fast as some other retailers sometimes.
Their price on the Xenium SpIce I ordered was very reasonable.
Shipping took quite a while-just over a week.  Part of the problem was with fedex, though, who delivered a day later than expected.
The package was well secured; between Xodus' hard plastic box and ModWhiz's careful packing all was well.
The real problem was NOT MODWHIZ'S FAULT-the solderless adapter was missing a pogo-pin.
I had to RMA the adapter, and that took too long for my liking.  I emailed ModWhiz on a Thursday and didn't hear back until the following Wednesday.  I tried the IRC channel, the customer service phone line, and a PM here on the X-S forums.  Then I had to send it to Canada and wait for a new adapter.
They did ship the replacement a day or two before recieving it, which was nice of them.  Got the replacement, and installed well.

I have bought from other sellers before with fewer issues, but the missing pogo pin was a freak occurance.  I probably will try ModWhiz again before I give a truly positive or negative review.

I will say that if they had responded faster and maybe rushed the shipping on the replacement adapter I would be completely & fully satisfied, as ModWhiz seems to be a very nice fellow.

Well, here's my first experience with ModWhiz:

Ordered 5 Xenium Ice Mods on late Friday afternoon.  Best price i could find so i figured i'd give them a try. ..for an extra $9, i ordered FedEx overnight (total shipping $19)

I figured with the late order and the weekend upon us, i'd probably see them on Tuesday of this week.  Well to my surprise, FedEx showed up Monday.

Overall this was by far the best experience i've had purchasing mods online.  I have every intension of ordering from ModWhiz again the next time I need supplies.  Excellent job!

Go - Save Yourselves - I am already a gonner. My experiance sucked so bad it goes beyond words.

Order number 4103 Order date 10/12

First I'd like to say that XBOX-SCENE should carefully consider who they promote as chip suppliers to thier members. When you click on the Xenium Soderless v1.6 link it takes you directly to Modwiz. I hope Xbox-scene was well paid for that little detour sign into the depths of online store Hell, becuase I consider them very culpable in this whole frustrating mess, I consider Modwiz incompetent to run an online store and xbox-scene at least criminally negligent for directing its members there and will never have a problem saying so now.

I started a rant that tracked every email and phone call of my dealings with Modwiz but that rant is now several pages long and frankly wouldn't be a very interesting read. If you want it I will email it to you.

Here is my story in short. I was a N00b to xb-mods so after many days of researching how mod my box, I began purchasing things. Got a new cddrive and hdd from someone else and ordered my chip and an s-vid cable from modwiz on the 12th of Oct. Today after five emails to Debbie in shipping asking, begging, demanding, and even a formal refund request, and after fifty phone calls and five actual phone conversations (no one answers the phone there) with Tony the manager. I was told by Tony my parts shipped only 15 minutes ago and my tracking number should be active in a couple hours. IT"S ONLY BEEN 25 DAYS. To tell you the truth I am so disgusted with Modwiz I can bearly bring myself write this flame, but I promised myself that I would so here is.

Modwiz sucks like hitting a save point just as get a hand grenade in your lap and XBox-Scene suckS for recomending them.

I ordered a Qoob SX and gamebit recently (Nov 8th), order number 4371.
I thought I'd put the whole process on the board, just so everyone can see what
the whole process is like from ordering from Modwhiz.com.  I think a lot of the
time on message boards such as this one people are seeing only the negatives
of ordering from someone; people are more likely to post about their bad
experiences than their good ones.

Anyway, I ordered using my credit card last night, and can see using my online
banking site that there is a pending charge scheduled for tomorrow.  More
(hopefully good) information to come...

What a horrible experience - or rather lack of experience I have had with ModWhiz.  To anyone out there who is thinking of ordering from them my advice to you is RUN!!!!

I placed an order with ModWhiz on Oct 22 2005 (order #4203) for an Xbox Power Supply with 3-6 day ground shipping.  My credit card was charged right away.  I received a tracking number for the product on Nov 1 and the package was delivered on Nov 2.  The good news stops there.  My existing power supply was intermitantly shutting off and after successfully trying a friend's power supply, I decided to order a new one.  I read the mixed reviews on here but decided to give them a try.  So I hooked up the new power supply and plugged in the xbox.  Turned it on and nothing happens...no fan, no power, no nothing.  Unplugged it, tried again, no power (the fan spins momentarily but otherwise, nothing happens).  So I tried putting it into my friend's working xbox, same thing - no power.  So we conclude that this new power supply from ModWhiz is dead.  I send them an email right away (to [email protected]) and I wait a week...no reply.  So I send another email, this time to all 3 email addresses listed on the modwhiz website (sales, support, and shipping), and once again my email was ignored.  That was over a week ago.  Since then I have been calling them several times a day.  But they never ever answer their phone.  And the few times that it has sounded as though someone is picking up the phone, they quickly hang up.  I don't know what else to do.  I have spoken at length with 2 managers at Visa but they have informed me that because I did receive the product, they can't credit my account.  So it appears as though I'm stuck paying $40 for something that was dead upon arrival.  All I can say is, I will never ever order anything from ModWhiz again.

I don't have an order # I wrote it down and can't find it, I can't contact modwhiz because their unreachable, all I have is what my bank has as a transaction id # for my charge.

Same here ordered xcuter 2.6 ce chip and gamebit on 11-09-05, my card has been charged I have received nothing, have sent numerous emails to all three addresses, called on the phone no one ever answers the phone, tried the # thats listed on your card charge and spoke to someone in support, they said someone from sales would call me back, never heard from anyone, have tried that # numerous times and no one answers that on either now, they have 66 dollars of my money and you can't talk to anyone. If I ran my business like this I wouldn't have a business to run, they are good at stealing your money, we need to contact the attorney general where their located see if we can get charges filed against them, this is out and out theft.

I'm currently sitting at 3 weeks with nothing but a big credit card charge.
Order #4441
They contacted me once saying The orders ready but they want to confirm that I want a North American System in Japan(I'm Canadian in Japan)... I confirmed it and nothing.
I also got some BS about his shipping team quiting and email being broken but it sounds funny that a whole team would quit right before X-Mas. Even if the did they need to have more contact with us even if it's mass email or just a msg on the site. This is poor business. I'm giving them 2 more days then contacting my Credit Card company to start the fraud Chargeback. I really can see that this situation with all the delays and no contacting will cause many problems. If he doesn't fix something fast I think he's going to have to shut down the site becuase too many people are pissed off and posted on this nsite for him to make any sales.
I'll post if I get more updates.

Uh oh.  It was via xbox-scene that I ordered from modwhiz during the Spring of this year for a few chips for the XBOX.  No problems.  Took a little longer than I was comfortable with but I did get my chips.  Now, last week, being a previously satisfied customer... I ordered a couple more chips but this time for the PS2.  Hmmm, got an instant email notification that my order was processed.  Got an order number.  Saw the charge immediately posted to my CC.  Here I am a week later (granted, not a lot of time) and no response from the company.

A few days ago I sent an email asking for status on my order, specifically a tracking number via FedEx.  Silence.  Every time I call there's no answer.  Anytime I go to their website there is never a live operator available.  I even opened a ticket on their Help(less) Desk.  Now that I'm using GAIM I see that modwhizdotcom is logged in.  Sound familar?  They've been logged in for over 3 hours, they're NOT idle and they're not responding to my notification.  I too have a bad feeling about my transaction. grr.gif

I wish I had thought to look here BEFORE ordering again. sad.gif

Same here guys, I ordered (order# 4411) several items approximately 1 month ago and nothing!!!! I have attempted to contact someone several times, and no response.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on with these people? Are they still in business? I guess the only step remaining is to get the credit card company involved then purchase from another vendor.

I am struggling to get some type of response other than an automated response. My purchase that was "processed" by Modwhiz on 11-18-2005 has still not been recieved by me. I purchased two Xecuter 3 CE w/ LPC Rebuilds on order number 4490. Info is repeated at bottom (copied directly from my invoice). I have registered and used the new help desk system, called the phone number listed on the website during the proper hours, and recently tried to contact Modwhiz on IRC. I have gotten only an automated response from the help desk and an automated invoice. I have yet to receive any information related to my order being shipped. The web site states all orders are shipped 24 hours after they are "processed". I am not here to bash the company, I would just like a response as to why Modwhiz has my money and I have no product.

Modwhiz:

I placed an order on 11/16/05 and you charged my credit card.  You sent me an order confirmation but have not received any Fed Ex tracking number or shipping confirmation.  It is now 12/9/05, and you won't answer the phone or respond to any of the numerous emails I have sent.

Come on guys!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to modwhiz?

I've placed about 5 orders with them.  The service has gotten increasing worse each time.  My first order was for a qoob and black gc case.  I got an email right after I placed my order telling me that the black case was out of stock but they'd upgrade me to the smoke black case for free.  The box shipped the next day.  It was a great experience.  My next order was for a single dms4.  It shipped the next day, I had it in my hands the day after that.  Once again, great service.  About three weeks ago I bought a single Xenium ICE chip.  This was the first time I didn't get a tracking number.  I emailed them ([email protected]) and got no response.  Fortunately, the chip came quickly (ordered on Monday and it came Friday).  One weird mix up I wasn't happy about was it contained the wrong packing slip, so I had someone else's invoice (their address, email address, items, no cc# at least).  I understand that these types of mistakes happen when dealing with a large number of hand-packed items.  I mentioned the wrong slip to them and they apologized, so no big deal.

Next came order 4626.  I placed this order on November 29th.  The order is exactly the same as my last one (a single Xenium ICE chip shipped overnight).  I've created tickets in their help system, I've written emails, I've tried calling (ring, ring, ring...forever).  Now it's very likely that the chip is simply out of stock.  That wouldn't be a big deal if someone would respond to me.  I'd just cancel my order and get one from somewhere else or order a different chip.  Waiting forever is getting frustrating.  The box I'm modding isn't mine and it's been sitting disassembled on my table for two weeks hoping "today is the day" but it so far hasn't been.  If I don't get a package or response from them by next week, it's time to call the credit card company.

This form post is my latest attempt to figure out exactly what's happened to my order, to commiserate, and to let people know that modwhiz is having some "difficulty" with order fulfillment right now.  Having read a lot of the recent posts here, I know I'm not the only one and I haven't waited the longest.  I guess our best hope is that old Tony there at modwhiz hires an assistant.

Hmmm....I was about to post that I thought I was in the same boat as everyone else. I placed my order on Dec 1 for an AladdinXT (order # 4648). Tried emailing, no response. Tried phoning, just rings and rings. However, I just phoned again a minute ago and someone actually answered! I was told my order was being sent out today so I should have it in a day or two (I'm in Ontario so the shipping shouldn't take long). He said they'd been backed up for the last while but are getting caught up now. I guess I'll know if that's BS or not in a couple of days. So, to the rest of you who are still waiting try giving them a call now - things may be back on track.

I'll post back if I actually receive my modchip in the next couple of days. Good luck to everyone else!

I got tired of waiting. I just called my credit card company and there going to get my money back. The only bad part is they will need to re-issue me a new card. Goodbye forever Modwhiz. I hope other people that feel ripped off for shipping and or not receiving a courtesy response will do the same thing and order from elsewhere. Thanks for the posts.

Now I'm pissed. My order was supposedly being shipped on Tuesday (he said they ship all their domestic orders on Tuesdays, international on Thursdays). Well, it's been two days since then and I'm in the Toronto area so the max it would take to arrive is two days. So he basically lied right to me. If my order doesn't magically show up tomorrow I'm calling my credit card company.

I paid via PayPal back on 11/29 and last week filled out a dispute form.  Seeing that my funds were instantly deducted from my account on PayPal... we'll see if they support my claim and refund my money.  They say to give them 45 (!) business days to fix the problem.  If there are others here who paid via PayPal hopefully they'll understand the urgency of fixing our accounts.

If i EVER get the power supply that i ordered from Modwhiz, I'm most likely never going to order from there again. Terrible service. I mean yeah, i ordered through the Christmas season, but it's been almost a FULL week and i ordered overnight shipping. I ordered the 22nd and its the 28th now. I want to know what the hell is going on mad.gif . Modwhiz isn't answering calls or their help board. If you can help at all, send me an email at [email protected]. Is a power supply for a broken XBox too much to ask for?

I concur that you should AVOID this dealer at all costs! I ordered $200 worth of stuff with next day shipping a month ago, no response until I posted my third Priority 1 help desk ticket. Was told "we lost our shipping dept and should be backfilling orders. Expect confirmation in 24 hours". That was 13 days ago.

I just got my credit card bill and I'm writing tonight to dispute the charges... run away!

What sucks is that I only ordered from them because of the positive reviews in these forums.

Okay based on the good things I heard of modwhiz I went there to buy a GC case... I ordered it on the 16th of Decemeber. and I have not gotten an email telling me the status of my transaction... I got one that confirmed what I purchased. Nothing about shipment, or any of that. I go on the main page to find a warning saying something to the effect of 'Our email servers are down - we have switched to a help desk method." So I went there, signed in, and left a request for my status... still nothing. I have had it up for ten days waiting for a response - and it hasn't even been looked at!

No communication with customers, while you already have the customer's money... is not a fair transaction whatsoever.

Since I have no way of communicating with you:

ModWhiz, fix this please. It's been 15 days... My order number is #4800.

I placed an order on 12/12, paid for overnite shipping.  After not getting a tracking number after a few days I tried calling, email and the helpdesk.  2 weeks ago I got a message from the helpdesk saying they lost the shipping department and my request to cancel the order was forwarded to the management.  I called my bank and they are going to reverse the charge, they had tried calling the number on the transaction, and they said it was out of service.

I have sent a abuse report to the isp that is responsible for that IP the site uses, but they are dragging their feet.   send abuse reports to

If you were waiting on a MODWHIZ order call your credit card company and CANCEL IMMEDIATLY.

The website is now gone, check it out.  www.modwhiz.com

Don't think they are going to be filling any more orders, they took my money and dissapeared.  Good thing credit card company is already on it.

Like everyone else,  I also had a horrible experience ordering from modwhiz.  I ordered a dms pro chip on 12/16/05.  The chip never came.  I have reversed the charge to my CC and would recommend that anyone else who has ordered from them do the same.  I tried contacting them several times to no avail.  I've received orders from modwhiz in the past w/ no problem but due to my latest experience, I will NEVER order from them again and will continue to warn others about this awful company.

I should have done more research on these guys, but on the surface everything appeared great.  When I noticed their website was down today and still no tracking number provided to me I thought I would do some of my own research and found my way here...much to my shock I wasn't alone.

I went with ModWhiz because they were the only guys carrying the Xenium modchip, and I really didn't want to wait for the other guys to get their orders in.

ORDER NUMBER: #4898
DATE ORDER WAS PLACED: December 26, 2005
ITEM: Xenium ICE (XENICE001)

I have called my credit card company and am in the process of getting my money back from these scum bags and looking around for another type of modchip.

They are on IRC still!
server: irc.efnet.us
channel: #modwhiz

They thought it was funny when I contacted them on that channel. The people I had contact with told me:

a) I'm screwed
cool.gif I'm a dumbshit
c) I should have investigated the company before I purchased from them
d) I will not recieve my chip or a refund

Yep, Bought in October, UPS delevered it to them on 10/28/05 and here it
is Febuary 16 and NADA, ZIP, Zero, Ziltch.

Got Emails from Tony stating they lost thier shipping Dept. (Bob must
have Left) and in Nov Tony emailed me saying I would receive my tracking #
in 24 hour. Looooonnngg 24 hours unless your using alpha centuarian time.

Site was down prior(first of the year) and that got me worried but it came
back up. They said they were not taking any new orders for a week so they
could "catch up on back orders" Two weeks later the same msg was still there.

All I asked was a little communication. and my stuff back in working order,
preferably with the work done or a refund. Cant help thinging the time the
site was down they were packing up. Only thing keeping me from going there is
a 12 hour drive one way.

Figured I'd do up a gamecube to try a couple of things with.  Well Modwiz never shipped,  never responded to a single email,  ignored every single phone call, ignored msn's heck they ignored IRC.  These guys are scum bags,  they took my money and gave me nothing in return not even a song and dance.

Don't make the mistake I made,  these guys are scum and it doesn't matter if its xbox components or gamecube components they will rip you off.

To the scum bags at modwiz.com.  Please fullfill your legal requirements and ship the products paid for.
