Yesterday I was playing games with my friends and I pulled out the xbox and plugged in the wrong cable and that was connected so 230V straight into the Xbox. Bang! Smelled definately burned after
What advise can you guys give me. The easiest would probably to buy a new xbox, since i can't fix this right? Sure I can buy a new PSU but they cost like 75$ here and my dvd-drive is also broken so I probably need that one as well and a total sum of 125$ is a bit to expensive.
Has this happened to anyone else and can you guarantee that only the PSU is dead so I can sell the other parts or something...

Unfortunatley I dont have any friend with modded xbox so I doubt they will open theirs and take out their PSU's hehe
But I'm gonna take out the PSU and test that condensator with a multimeter and see if anything happens.
Any more hints?

That is a filtering capacitor (eh, I'm not too up in my Brit-speak, but I believe condenser meant battery right?).
Ok now look to the right of the "cans" (the upright black plastic encased cylinders). There USED to be another one there!
If you look closely you'll see the debris and scars on the circuit board and side of the Xbox.
USUALLY these capacitors are there to protect the Xbox from surges.
If it blew fast enough the PSU might be otherwise fine.
You'll need another one of identical value and type to the green ovoid one on the left to fix this.
Note that a 220 surge is relatively "slow" for these so additional damage may have been done and you'll need a new PSU, but several other people have been able to repair theirs in an identical circumstance by simply replacing the blow capacitor.

That was the POOF you heard and where the smoke came from.
There was another identical poster hear last week, go back on the threads and you'll see exactly the same thing, although he posted far more complete pictures.
In them you'll see what he did.

Those were the interesting threads I found. And I looked all the way back to 18th May. Was it even before that?
Anyway My PSU doesn't look like the one in the replace-fuse-guide. Later I will upload an picture from the other side of the PSU. I can't see any holes that the thing you are talking about was.
And none of those threads contained "far more pictures". Maybe you meant Thread3? If you look at that pic. I don't see the green thing on the other side.
BTW no smoke came from the xbox it just smelled bad.

It's a Delta Power Supply. i also found some high resolution pics of one (for 1.1 tho, but looks the same)

But I also found that this fuse is not working.

It's located near where the cord is plugged in. A few centimeters from the burnmarks.

The electronics frequently change, and the last shot I saw had what was there identical to the lower green one.
As I mentioned I'll have to check against a 1.0 Delta to tell you with certainty what blew up and it's value.

I will, I'm awaiting a replacement motherboard which should arrive tomorrow for an old 1.0 Xbox I own.
As soon as I get it I'll be opening the unit up so I'll get you an answer and/or pictures.

The resistor at R1 is exactly the same value as that as R2
I believe you blew the one at R1
The Capacitor at Z1 is exactly the same as the one at Z2
I believe you also blew the one at Z1
Just read off the values from the good ones you have.
