Title: Ya Requrering Orbital Mesh
Post by: stressed76 on February 02, 2006, 11:25:00 AM
So here we go....first off I'd like to say that I've sucessfully configured xlink quite a few times and this is new to me.   My Ovis Link SR-500 has a open port of 30000, ran xlink program through this router at my house and worked fine(I'm using xp).   configured the router and everything and took it over to my friends house that is eagerly waiting to play on Xlink (he's running win98SE).  I hooked up the router, I have his xbox set to DHCP, and the router found it.  I go into XBMC and the RSS is going accross the top, I can get into shoutcast no problem.  First off I configured xlink to work through the PC first to make sure it was workin at buddy's house, and low and behold, I got the "requering orbital mesh" shit going on.  So I did a little research and did the clicking under the BLUE progress bar to get the IP's up........tried every one.....and nothing.  So I got the config file for other IP's for the orbital mesh and guess what........nothing!  So I was wondering........could I use older config files for this or should I use the most recent one?   And so if this doesn't work......WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I am not...repeat not a newbie at this so if anyone has any suggestions what I am over looking that would be greatly appreciated!!!1

No, you cannot use an old config file. If you run XLink with an older config file you can forget about being able to connect to the orbitals.

Normally all XLink files should be updated by the service whenever there are changes and updates, however it sometimes fail. This is when you might have to update the config file manualy.

That said the problem you explain does not have to be an old config file, it might as well be invalid firewall settings, so check your firewall for starters.
