General Information
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All tunneling applications are the same at their core, the program sees your XBox and will give the impression to your XBox that it is on a local area network (LAN). So, you need to have your XBox connected to your PC via a crossover cable, or by using a router. However, the interface and features are what seperate the different tunneling applications.
XLink, (Xlink Homepage) is a TOTALLY free program that runs on your PC.
Once XLink sees your XBox, and all is good, here is what you need to know:
- All system link enabled games work on XLink. See the pinned topic of what games are supported.
- If a game just has XBox Live, but no system link option (ex. NBA2K3), then it will not work.
- Backups on DVD/HDD work on XLink.
- Originals work on XLink.
- You do not need a modded XBox to use XLink.
- You do have to have a modded box to use the Bo-XLink counterpart (add-on to remote control XLink on PC from your XBox to join rooms and such).
- XLink is not Xbox Live, so you will not get banned from XBox Live by using XLink.
- If you have a XBox Live communicator (voice headset), it will work too with XLink. But, some games like Midnight Club 2, do not support this. Most games that have
XBox Live and system link support the voice headsets. Please see the pinned list for details.
- Broadband is very highly recommended for XLink. Dialup users should only play in private games with a few people, so as not to lag out other players and annoy / frustrate.
- XLink shows a listing of games that you enter into and host, but thats just there to organize people into an area. Meaning, you can create a room under the listing of "Halo", but the game can be "Ghost Recon". The room names are there so people know what game people are playing.

Step-by-Step Guide to getting Linked
1. Go to our website
2. Go to the downloads section
3. Download BOTH the RC2 installer, AND the 2.2.4 EXE build update
4. Run the RC2 installer
5. Once installed, overwrite 'Xlink.exe' in the installation directory (C:Program FilesXLink RC2) with the 2.2.4 update
6. Run XLink.
7. Choose the network adapter that you use to connect to your XBox (avoid NDISWAN adapters).
8. Press the 'Create Account' button in XLink.
9. Make an account from the website.
10. Try logging in with the XTag / password.
11. You should get an error that says you haven't forwarded the ports correctly. Here's what to do.
If you use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), you can probably just hit "Automatically Forward Ports for Me" and it should do everything for you.
If you use a router to connect your XBox and PC network together, and you KNOW that it's UPnP compliant, you can also try using the "Auto Forward Ports for Me".
If that doesn't work, you'll have to forward the ports manually. Check http://www.xboxlink.co.uk/help.php on how to forward the ports for most big brand name routers.
If you know how to forward ports and you've done it before, you need to forward ports 34518 and 34519 on UDP to the PC running XLink.
12. Once you've got that all set up correctly, you should be able to log in.
13. If you wanna head straight into games, go to Rooms Mode. For explanations of WGN, visit the website.
14. The first thing you should do before trying to play a game, is boot something like Halo. Go to the system link section of Halo and get it until the point where it says "Waiting for Games". Confirm that the MAC address of your XBox appears under "Local XBoxes". Once you see that, you'll be ready to get gaming.
When you join someone's room and their XBox is ready and waiting, you should see THEIR XBox MAC address under "Remote XBoxes". There should be an XBox for each person in that room.
Thanks for your continued support,
Team XLink.
