Title: XLink Bug Reports
Post by: link50 on August 29, 2003, 04:20:00 PM
Well, i dont know if i'm just retarted, but i put bo-Xlink on my xbox and i loaded it up and it just stays at the awaiting connection screen. Do you still need to do the port forwarding with bo-Xlink like you needed to do with x-link? (which i never got working because i couldn't figure it out with my router)

Oh wow, I am retarted smile.gif  Thanks. Oh, and if anyone knows how to do port forwarding on a D-link router could you please PM me or something? (I don't want to clog up this thread cuz it's a little off topic)

Yes, i've just been running it for a while and played a halo game but then suddenly I just got runtime error 5 and i pressed okay and it shutdown X-link. Now when i try to load it up again it gives me the you have to forward your port thing but they are forwarded. It'll probably work later or something....

*Edit*
Yeah, after reboot it worked fine. Hope you guys can work it out. It's only happened once though so nothing big

There seems to be something odd with the UPnP router stuff... it used to work for me for the test builds, but the public release won't work.... I end up having to forward the ports manually which isn't that bad, but it says that it failed to find any upnp devices... and I know that UPNP is installed....

I switch to wireless NIC to wired NIC hence why I need to change the port forwarding to the correct DHCP-leased IP.

I can't get Xlink RC2 to login at all. I keep getting the "port check failed" error.

I am using a Netgear DG814 Modem/Router, firmware version 4.8 (have also tried 4.7 firmware with no luck)

I have UPnP enabled on my router (and get the "your router doesn't support UPnP" error)
I have ports 34518 and 34519 forwarded in my router settings.

One of my friends is using the same router as I am with version 4.7 of the firmware and is having the same problems I am.

RC1 still works fine.

Cheers.

Found a little bug with the 'increase max. players' feature...

it will always say that the current room size is set to 2 players, regardless of whether it's 2, 5, 16, whatever... also, when you choose a max. amount of players, you can no longer select a value lower than that if you decide to go and click the button again... so the list can only get larger and larger but you can't reduce the size..if you set the game to 16 players, you can't do anything but keep it on 16 players ie. you can't take it back to 2 or 3 etc...

Also couple of times it's having trouble's with the user list.... i think you've said before it was something about a user's XTag TD?

Hmmm, well I just tested my theory one last time......and now it signs me in without logging into the X-Link web-site.  ::sigh:: figures.

I don't know what was going on earlier today I for  the life of me could not sign onto RC2, without doing the little trick I described above.

I know the X-Link guys said they were working on the server so maybe things are working correctly now.

Well F:\Games\Halo\default.xbe should not be any problems right.
Or F:\Games\MotoGP2\default.xbe either.

Both hangs during startup :-(

Both works well then I boot from evox.

I used to play RC1 without any problems.

After I upgraded I got this error everytime when starting xlink:"run-time error '10049' adress is not available from the local machine"

The solution was quite simple, the xbox had to be powered on before starting xlink.
This was not the case with RC1, thus the confusion.

Hope this helps anyone.

I get the same problem.  Never used any of the Xlink/XBConnect before, so this is all new to me.  Ports are forwarded to the correct machine (24518-24519) to my computer.  Do I need to forawrd ports to my xbox? The IP the XBox gets is 192.168.1.253.  This shouldnt be problem tho.  How about we get some answers to these bug reports we are all posting? Not to be a dick, but the help on the XLink website, can you connect, yes, no, yada yada, really isnt enough to help people.  Thanks.

Works fine for me, however there is a bug when used with xecuter 2's in game reset function.  Once in a network game, when I use in game reset, then recconect to box-link, I can't launch any games anymore.  It acts as though it does not know the location of the default.xbe.

Me too. I got Win98 and WinXP. In Win98 no problem, but in WinXp I got the error mencioned. And a system tray icon appears. I have clicked on it, and choosen close, so XLink appears, but it doesnt work. Then, appear 2 files into the folder of XLink RC2: config.dat and games.dat. Games.dat is empty and now if I try to run Xlink again, the error message is "`Procedure PacketGetAdapterNames failed". I got a NIC, a USB emulation of a NIC and a firewire card.

Keep up the good work on development, can't wait until I won't have to use to PC anymore to play online (w/o shelling more $$$ to M$)  beerchug.gif

RC1 works very well for me, i downloaded RC2 and it always says that ports 34518-34519 are blocked when they are 100% NOT blocked, like i said RC1 works fine but RC2 refuses to believe me that the ports are UNBLOCKED, anyone one else experiencing this??

When I load XLink on my computer (winXP) i get an error that says that the program is already open and i should check the system tray...  This is just after i rebooted my computer and there are no programs running expecially Xlink...

We are having the same problem with xlink & XP - have it tried on both our XP PCs.  I am 100% sure it is not really already running! I posted on this a few weeks ago & have still not seen any clues for a solution.

What type of router do you have?  Could other programs be conflicting with it - do you have XBC, Gamespy, AIM, Kaaza?

Does anyone else have it working with XP?

Now when I open XBConnect it gives me an error saying "Error initializing WinPCap".  Which was installed by XLink.  Anyway, still cannnot get XLink or previous XLink releases to load.  On the Release5B I get an error says PacketX.dll needs to be registered...

The problem of the winpcap is because the XBC uses other version of winpcap. I f you want to run again XBC, just reinstall it. It takes the good winpcap for it, and runs ok agian.

But nobody says how to solve the problem of "Already running"...

We still waiting...

Ok. Bug solved. It is solved in a thread, so I will not explain everything here. Just to say, reinstall XBC v3.0, it installs correct winpcap and XLink works fine

hi raf,

I cant get userlist to work in rc2, worked fine in the alphas but not in rc2.

It would be cool if u could list all rooms open on xlink website in thier game categories instead of top 5, or would it be to hard to do?

smile.gif

there's a fix to the user list messing up...

umm i can't seem to access it atm...

maybe TD can post it in this thread...it was basically a new exe to overwrite the one that was installed...

as for having the site say all the rooms, well it'd get rather messy and large and you could just use xlink itself to check....

Has the issue of Xlink not storing the correct game path been addressed? I know it has been asked a few times, but I along with the other individuals have the same problem and I have not heard anyone respond to it.

Everytime I restart my computer I need to reenter the correct path.

Why? Any thoughts?

yes, it has, you should check some of the posts here.

to fix the issue, after you have put in the game paths, right click on your xlink systray icon, and hit exit.

That should do it and they should be there next time you start xlink.

Boxlink bugs I have noticed:

1. Global user list: I have noticed that when pressing down on the right thumbstick, that boxlink brings up this list, however the only way to scroll is to use the triggers, and it goes super fast, unless touching them so slightly. left stick doesnt do anything, neither does digital pad. Also this list only shoes users in your region (ntsc or pal). List is not sorted by ping as far as I can tell, nor alphabetically.

2. when choosing status in wgn mode, holding left trigger AND left stick allows fast scrolling, but not right trigger. Seems these should coincide with mentality in rooms mode or other wise, with one trigger scrolling up fast other, down fast.

3. some user names with long status overlap side of the 2 best skins, the halo one, and the green curvy one (my fave).

4.  I will add more later, this is all I can remember...

When launching games on the HD directly Halo is acting weird.  If I go to a Halo room and then select launch it tries to run the game and then my evox loads.  If I'm in WGN and launch and get to choose which game then Halo loads fine.  All the other games I have work fine.  ??

Basically it doesnt work

I installed it restarted launched it....... it said cannot find netowrk adapters crashed out strated again... same error but found it was actually running in tray... open it from there logged in.... xbox was already on entered room entered game then runtime error. Restarted all.... Same again but left xbox off entered room game etc, turned on xbox then I got the runtime error seems to be a NIC connection error in the soft. Cannot handle live connections e.g. wen its running it cant be connected to another device!??????????????

plus i dont c the point of this as it stil need to b connected to a PC?

why not make some money and give a connector for Xbox to Phone line DSL and a dialup software like PS2????

perfectly legal as its only for ppl who are developers (YEA RIGHT) and people who own modified xboxes as this is not ilegeal either as it's my xbox and i can do wat the fuk i want with it (as long as I dont have every game ever for xbox on DVD-R) which I dont!!!!!!!!!!! just incase billy is listening................. you turd i know u r....................!!!!!!!!!!

I've got the xlink and rc2 working fine on my xbox, but two friends of mine are having the same problem.  When they try to launch the app from the xbox it just waits at awaiting connection.  I've taken my xbox over to their house and using their network my xbox logs in just fine.  All of are settings are the same (same bios version, same network settings etc.)  Use static IP is set to NO on all 3 of our xboxs.  But if they just open the xlink software and go into the system link game it will link them, it just won't connect when they try to launch the app from the xbox
We have re-downloaded the app from a different site and deleted and recopied the files back to the xbox hard drive but it has the same problems.  Does anyone know why might be causing this problem?
