Title: Direct Connection On Xbox Live Problems

I have been having problems connecting to XBOX Live. Since I don't have a router or hub I have to have a direct connection(PC vs XBOX)when I want to get on live. I would disconnect my power cable from my cable modem, wait ten seconds, put by xbox on and I would be able to get on live to my hear's content. This has been my routine since I have had XBOX live for 5 years and I have had no problem. For about a two weeks this method has been failing most of the time (lucky if I can connect in 15 minutes) and wonder If my cable modem is the cause or is it my XBOX, or Live? Through the network settings on original XBOX the error would be DHCP if that meens anything to anyone who has knowledge in networking.
