I decided I wanted to get the new autoupdate for a game onto my modded xbox so the game would be up-to-date and I could look at what's changed.
Now I hadn't used this xbox for Live for a long time - ever since I got my 360, I've used that for Live. I know I've gotten the system update that came out around (or right before) the 360 came out.
To make sure my system wasn't banned, I go the Xbox Live menu option in the MS dashboard, and log into an xbox live account. Works flawlessly, can see friends list, etc.
When I put in the game disk, and try to sign into Live, it tells me there is a system update available (not game update - I'm pretty sure the message was different when it's an update for the game but I may be wrong - so I guess I need the system update before the game update) and I can either continue offline or download it. I choose to download it, and it goes to the updater, my xbox makes some noises (accessing hdd or disk drive I guess) and quickly tells me that xbox live is not responding, and starts the game back up after a few seconds.
Any idea what's wrong? I have a lot of non-MS files on my C: drive - could that affect it? It hasn't ever before - maybe this system update is picky. Anyone else have this problem?

Er, I just tried to edit my message, but it then told me I didn't have permission to do that, and now it says I did edit my post (but nothing's changed) and the edit button is gone now. Here's what I tried to edit in:
Edit:
Nvm, seems that it was a game update, and the game had a glitch where if you didn't have an older au, it didn't let you get the newest one or something like that. I threw on a backup of an older au, and it let me download it.
