I have searched everywhere and tried tons of different combinations to try to get this setup to work. I need someone that knows what they are doing's help.
This is my set up:
Cable Modem
To
Wireless Netgear Router
To
Computer(Upstairs) via regular RJ45 cable
Computer(Downstairs) via wireless card
I want to connect the Xbox to the Downstairs computer thru the extra eithernet port it has. I have a crossover cable going from this computer to the xbox, but I cannot get the network settings right.
(Please don't tell me to just run another standard cable to the xbox from the router. I have it set up and working like this now, but it involves hanging the cable out one window and back in another. I need a solution that does not involve drilling holes in the floor.)
Basically I need it to look like this:
Cable Modem - Wireless Router - PC via Wireless Card - Xbox via Crossover Cable
If anyone has set up thier network like this, please share your settings and how you did it. Thank you everyone. I know a little about the network settings, how to access router, IPs, DNS, but I am far short of being an expert, so please keep that in mind if you answer.
