I was thinking we could possibly compile a list of hard drive serials that are known to be banned from xbox live. This way if someone buys a hard drive online from ebay or the BST or gets a refurbished hard drive that has been RMA'd with one of these serials, they will know not to use it online. The reason this would be helpful is because if they use a banned hard drive on live, then their motherboard will be banned and their gamertag will be flagged.
Yes, I realize that the chances of receiving a hard drive with one of these serials is very small, but the chance still exists. One thing I'm not sure about, however, is when someone RMA's a hard drive, does the manufacturer change the serial number? If not then it is still possible to receive a banned hard drive that is labelled "refurbished" or even said to be a new drive.
So, if anyone has a banned hard drive that they are planning to RMA for a new one, please provide the serial number here so that the xbox live community doesn't receive your banned hard drive.
