OK been reading up on this marriage theory.
My Xbox is a v1.1 with an X2.0 Lite (old reliable), 120gb hdd and coaxial mod (for dolby digital/dts). I just got a 300gb hdd that I want to use.
Last week I opened up the Xbox as it's been intermittently fragging and I figured dodgy wiring was to blame (it was one of my first Xbox mods from way back when, still working fine). Removed the wires and did a pinheader install, etc etc.
I have four Xbox consoles sitting here in my house with dead lasers (I do repairs, see) that are gonna just get taken back to work and chucked away or stripped for bits as they're uneconomical to repair. I'm not going to go deeper into this, so suffice it to say I simply have 4 eeproms I can use.
I really don't want to desolder/resolder the X2 and put it in one of the others to get the eeprom info, but I've got a mem card and 007 with the hack all sorted out. Of course I'll have to open my Xbox and take out the Samsung drive to boot 007 on the other Xboxes
Can EvoX read the eeprom without using a bios loader? I think I just have a habibi-signed evoxdash on the mem card but I'll have a look later... I remember once I did have it running the x2 bios off the mem card, and I had to set an option in the ini file to turn on debug mode to get configmagic to read the eeprom.
Thing is, how can I tell if any of the Xboxes has been on Live? they're all returns from our stores so customers have used them.
My first idea was to see if the groovy XBox Live intro animation appears which I assume would mean they haven't been on Live and are hence ripe for the picking, but if the person just clicked on Live and didn't connect, I'd have no way of knowing, would I?
Basically, I don't reall have any problems having the Xbox banned (I just want to play SF Anniversary on it that's it, don't like the look of SF2HF on 360...) as 99% of the time I'm using XBMC (the other 1% is taken up playing Ninja Gaiden offline or SFAC online), but if it did, will this pose problems for my 360? I really don't want that getting banned of course! not to mention I've got a year's gold sub on it still.
But I would like to play some SFAC now and then!
Also, and I know this is OT, is there a way to partition and write to an Xbox hdd on the pc? My laptop hdd is only 60gb, and the Xbox one is nearly full, so I've nothing to store the files on while swapping the hdds. This way I could have one drive hooked up to the laptop via usb2, the other in the Xbox via FTP, and just copy the stuff over.
I used a program a few weeks ago on a 360 hdd and it showed all the files and that, but it was a bit fiddly to use.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for being a bit vague and nonsensical - I'm really hungry
gonna go eat and wait for the replies to come pouring in!

the habibi-loaded evox will do fine for grabbing the eeprom
BTW, how do you figure a bad laser is uneconomical to repair? IMO its one of the most economical repairs, lol

ok eeprom nicked and all is well - connected to live on my xbox yesterday (although banning does take a day or two doesn't it) and xbox 360 was fine after that aswell.
i'm in the mood for modding now, so going to attempt a coaxial 5.1 mod on my 360 just like what's on my xbox
considering doing a vga port as well if i find somewhere on the case to fit it...
i've already opened it and fiddled about inside so the warranty's gone anyway (luckily the gfx card is fine!)
