Title: Is It Safe?
Post by: E weez E on January 25, 2006, 08:46:00 PM
Alright here's my situation, tell me if you think it's safe to go on LIVE like this or please point out a step that I've missed. I think I've covered everything but it doesn't hurt to check you know.

- Brand New Xbox
- X3 chipped
- Upgraded Harddrive

I FTP'd the C:\ drive and E:\ drive from my stock HD to PC and then back to upgraded HD in their appropriate spots. The X3 backed up the EEPROM. I locked the upgraded HD and can boot into MSFT dash no problem. I've only got like 100mb left on C:\ drive though because UnleashX resides on the C:\ drive as well (skins take up space). I have a two month trial and was going to just create a new account and see if it works out. Of course, I'd be booting the box with chip disabled when I attempt it.

Yeah, as long as you use something like ConfigMagic to switch the eprom from the small HD to the big HD.

I've got the EEPROM backed up on my X3 where I can FTP to it. I didn't see the bin file on the stock hdd. Why/Where would I put the EEPROM on the upgraded hdd?

Well go into ConfigMagic, and load the eeprom from there. And then save it, it says in one of the pinned topics about config magic, take a look. Should sort you out.

Yes, the new HD has to be locked, but since your Xbox hasn't been on Live, no worries about your EEPROM. Just be sure to use Xbox Live with your modchip off

^ This is my exact situation, so according to shanafan's advice to assmonkey (LOL) I should be safe. I locked the 300gig drive using X3CL and like I said, I have no problem booting M$ dash with chip off or on. If I had already accessed LIVE, then I could see the need to load and save a new EEPROM like you were mentioning. I'm a bit precautious, hence the topic that just resulted in my reassurance that I did everything according to "the book." I guess I just need to make that 2 month trial account now and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help bro wink.gif .

I went ahead and signed onto XBL and created the 2 month account, so it worked! If you have a virgin EEPROM than just lock HD and sign on. Just be sure you have MS Dash in its home on C: and the TDATA & UDATA folders on E:. I guess that's it, if you have a question about something feel free to ask.

I just messed up about a week ago. Bought my Xenium ICE chip about a year ago, and finally found out I could use the Xecuter LPC rebuilt (I have a 1.6 box) I installed the chip and instantly got on Live with my account just to see if it was going to work out or not. Figured if I was going to get banned might as well do it quick. I didn't get banned and was able to play on xbox live for a little over a week.

Like they've said in many articles, the drive that comes with the xbox is to small for most peoples needs, so I slipped my spare 80gb drive in. I haven't been reading up on xbox live's new techniques for banning and I have been banned.

Not really sure if this is going to work but I am gonna steal the EEPROM from my gf's brothers xbox and see if I can get back on live. I'll post back my results, incase anyone cares. smile.gif
