I bought a used Xbox at a local game shop for my step kids for Xmas. Last night I hooked it up to make sure it worked and I found a Live account good for the next 11 months.
Well I'm just wondering if this account is technically ours or not? I've been wanting to try Live out for a while so I can't beat $100 for a used Xbox that's a year old (and it's got the Samsung DVD drive) with a Live account that's almost a years worth IMO.

I would use the account until the next payment comes up, then cancel the account, if it will even let you do that. If MS won't let you cancel the account because it's not yours, just use it forever then. I mean, it's the account owner's fault if he didn't cancel the account or delete it off his Xbox.

unless its a 12 month account thats already been paid for, then your good to go, there will be no monthly billings to whomever's credit card account that was used to set it up. only an auto-renewal at the end of the term.
If it where me, id just use it..

Thanks for the reply guys. It looks as if the account has been paid up until 11/2006. I'm just going to use it, but I don't want who ever originally bought it to be charged next year so I'll just cancel it before it time to renew (but yeah I agree the original owner should have deleted the info if they didn't want anyone to use it). And so far I haven't had any issues saying that this account is online when I've used it so it looks as if it's been abandoned. This is my first experiance with Xbox Live so it's nice to actually get to see it before I lay down the cash on it.
