all the "black" controllers have the green cables, even the original "big" ones
AFAIK all clear and LE controllers have matte black cables
and if you wonder why i said "black" instead of black, its because all the "black" parts of an xbox (case, crontollers, dvd remote) are actually a very dark green, not black |
I beg to differ, I definitely have 3 controllers here, all are black, with black cables. Yes, I have seen quite a few with green cables before as well. Transparent green and matte green.
This is probably superfluous but if you feel experimental you could open your controllers and compare the stick and pad sets. I've opened up old controllers which were well used to see the wear and tear on the stick sets and the pads themselves and have not noticed any significant difference. A particularly adventurous friend of mine even sliced open the pads to see if he could stiffen the springs (for his shoddy LED button mod :P ). Again this is probably peripheral to your original post, but it's an idea for an extremely boring rainy day.
I have 2 S controllers, both black with green cables. One is made in Malaysia, the other is made in China. I notice a distinct extra responsiveness in the Malaysian made controller compared to the Chinese one.
Reasons - I don't know ;)
Malaysian one the one with black cables?
