You can change the video mode with enighma, and as long as your modchip is off, you shouldn't have a problem.
Now, if you're talking about loading the game with your chip on, and turn if off once is loaded, and then play on xbox live, it is an unmistakable ban. Since in order to play that game you're using a non M$ bios, doesn't matter if you turned it off after you loaded it, it's still running a moddified bios.
Again, using enighma to change your video mode, will not get you banned since M$ doesn't seem to check on that. Make sure you backup ANY file you're going to modify.
