Title: Xbox Live Problem - Can't Create Account

I've had my xbox for a while now and I got quite a few games that still had valid "2-month free" cards in them. I'm not going to sign up yearly for xbox live...but I thought I'd give at least one of the cards a try so I could play Halo2 online.

Well, I now see why people get so mad at xbox live

I've checked, and my router and firmware are xbox live compatiable (D-Link DI-604 and 3.2 fireware) AND I've put the xbox on the DMZ (totally open to the 'net)

My xbox is NOT modded, and never has been. All connects WORK (including the one to the internet, which the xbox tells me this) but I can not connect to live to create a new account (it says "Unable to continue due to technical difficulties.  Please try again later")

ANyone have an idea?

Thats happened to me when I try to recover an account too. I still haven't been able to recover it.

they do shut down and run test ya know.

This might be a long shot...

But have you tried a Power cycle?

Search around for the procedures.

How about the obvious solution and remove the box from the DMZ and plug it directly into your modem and cycle power on both? Sure your hardware is compatible but your hardware is also grade A shit. If you insist on networking how about investing the extra $20 in Linksys which is now a subsidy of Cisco. At least you know you'll be getting quality and I've had no problems with mine and at times there are three xboxes jacked into my router playing live at the same time. (2 hardwired and 1 wireless)

yep i agree if you get quality products, then they will run well, and you will no that the hardware never usually fails

I can connect to xbox live with the original hard drive...

What do I need to do to my 80G one to be able to connect to xblive?
