Apparently, these guys backed up the game on their harddrive, turned off their chip, put halo2 in, and tried to play online only to be stopped by failsafes my buddy puts on every box. He believe that's when you backup Halo2, it unlocks your box thus leaving you open for banning. |
well, here's another theory....
So, the question is... Is anybody out there with a HDD upgrade that got banned without backing up the game in their HDD????
we would be gratefull if you give some feedback...

I have a 160gb Seagate harddrive and like I said, a 2.3 Xecuter chip. My buddy who does all my xbox modding told me that some people he recently modified their boxes, could not get online with Halo2. that is a very interesting theory. i've backed up halo2 to my other xbox to which i don't use for xbl. but on my xbox live box, i haven't backed up halo2 to my hdd, never downloaded the pal french version(excuse em moi? master chief parlez francais?) for the simple reason i saw what happened before the initial release date and leaked halo2 french and am playing off my limited edition game and never popped in the bonus disk that comes with le edition into my xbox.(maybe some security xbe's on that). who knows what they are looking for, i'm just keeping an eye when and if i'll get banned.

That's the order I registered and haven't gotten banned yet. |
problem is we don't know how long back they've been scanning and since I did play online for a few weeks a year or so ago with my stock HD i could be in line for a ban.....or if i switch back to stock that could give me a ban too...

I got xbox live when it came out, but I switched my hdd I think before they started logging that info. I think I should be ok, but I haven't tried yet.

Yep, I did that. Still good!
Same with me I switched my HD after I signed up to live but I believe it was more than 8 months ago (I hope) which was when they sopposidly started to track the eeproms and the HD's together. I have not tried yet eithier.
I got live after modding my xbox and I played 1 match in halo today without a ban.
I am going to stay offline for now until all of this gets sorted out

however if you....
1. Modded xbox and replaced hard drive 2. registered for XBL with the large hard drive laready in place. 3. play xbox live 4. have fun - you might be safe from these bannings. |
so let's say you've never been banned, never had to change your eeprom or whatever. if you're correct, can it be possible to cancel your existing account and then register a new one just to be on the safe side?
