Have you tried restoring your EEPROM to a backup you made before (when everything worked OK)?

I have confirmed 100% that the long locking way makes a 00C2 error box work. What I did was when I upgraded my HD and used slayer to format and install everything and so forth, I got the C2 error. So I cloned my old Xbox HD with Norton Ghost. It is very easy. You have to make a Norton Ghost Dos boot disk with Norton Ghost 2002 (later versions like Norton Ghost 9 do not have such a boot disk and only work in windows). Then when you boot the disk you have to quit the program and return to the command prompt (A:/) and then type exactly "ghost /ir" without the exclamation points ofcourse. When the Program runs you select source disk (which is your original, untouched, Xbox hd) and then select the destination disk (which is your large, upgraded HD) and sit back and watch it clone. Please note that you must have unlocked both HD for your PC to recognize them ofcourse, and you should connect your Xbox Original HD to your Primary IDE Master CHannel and your Upgraded HD to the Secondary IDE Master CHannel for simplicity. Once they are clones you can use slayer (or your own custom evox script) to format the F partition, lock the upgraded HD and then try live. It is easier if you setup your live info on your old xbox HD (or copy it to a memory card) so you do not have to run the recovery program. I gauantee you 100% it works, and for me changing region settings with Enigmah and changing eeprom DOES NOT WORK! I got a brand new unbanned eeprom and I still got C2 error. So I am not sure was causing it but cloning the HD bit for bit solves the problem

Tsk tsk, Rico, I just read your other post and saw that you formated your retail HD. That was a HUGE mistake. There is something in the retail HD that makes your XBOX work with live that you have to clone to your new HD. I don't know if maybe it is the Harddisk or what but my guess is there is something in the partition info or the way that Slayer formats Harddrives that makes your xbox give a c2 error (I am guessing but I am almost 100% sure you are using Slayer to format right cuz that is what I used to prepare my HD the very first time and I got the c2 error and even when I clones my retail HD and it started working, I did a test of formatting the cloned HD with SLayer and lo and behold, the clones HD stopped working and gave me the C2 error even though it was working before I formatted. You can use slayer to format F drive ofcourse since after you clone your retail HD the F partition will have a 0 byte size, but DO NOT USE SLAYER TO FORMAT C OR E, it will give you a C2 error gauranteed). So if you can get yourself a pristine retail Xbox HD I am 100% positive your C2 error will go away.

Well, I hope that is true, because my Brother have a  non-modded xbox, so i can open it, place the hdd in my xbox, and all I have to do i make a backup of ALL files and place it to my xbox? Or isnt that what youre talking about? But before I make a backup of his HDD do i have to unlock him or something?

I put in the stock drive and I still get the error. I cloned the drive with Ghost and I still get the error.

Well, finally after 5 weeks of kicking and punching against my xbox, i solved it. And NO, it was no hardware error what almost everyone told me... It was just a simple ban of MS... The tutorial on the forum said: "You do not have to replace your eeprom.." BULLSHIT! I replaced it with a new one, and guess what... It worked!  blink.gif

I'm gonna try this right now. I've done everything other than buying a new eeprom.

I gotten this error many times and in trying to fix it, I noticed the best solution is to try another eeprom. This problem seems to happen most often when trying to go back to using a stock hard drive, after getting banned while using a larger hard drive.

I am not sure but I was wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that some XBOX's have an 8gb hard drive and others have a 10gb hard drive, as I always get this error code when loading up an eeprom from another XBOX with an 8gb hard drive when using an stock 10gb hard drive, but switching the eeprom contents from another matching XBOX (same drive type/size), I don't get the error code.

I also noticed on some machines I found the best way to get rid of the error code if you can't switch eeproms, is to unlock the drive, format it on a PC, then reformat on a XBOX and then relock the drive, and then test the XBOX live connection and if no error codes use RECOVERY to restore your account.

This last fact, makes me think part of the error code problem may be stored on the drive itself and is in part of the 5mb "drive config area" which is where the partition table and your XBOX live account info is stored.
