Title: Lpc And The Xbox 1.6
Post by: opjose on May 10, 2004, 03:32:00 PM
The initial posted analysis indicates that the 1.6 Xbox will be utilizing the LPC bus to access the BIOS/KERNEL, instead of the paralellized data lines used by TSOP kernels.

It's interesting that the dashboard is able to report the state of the LPC, in that people claim to have been banned with an LPC mod chip, even when it was/is loaded with a virgin Xbox bios, and only that was enabled on the chip.

Now that 1.6 USES the LPC bus, I wonder if MS relented a bit on this, which might mean that unhacked bioses (say in a switched bank) on an LPC mod chip, no longer represent the threat of getting banned.
